Bad coaching and a lack of talent are a lethal combination.

You get what you put into the program. Administration has invested in the football program. For whatever reason they have decided that investing in the basketball program at the same level is not worth it. This goes farther than who the coach is.

It will be highly surprising if Johnson is fired during the season. If this year goes off the rails I would bet Johnson does not get a 5th year.

Depending on how this season ends up and if it ends up badly the question that should be asked is why give Ben Johnson another chance to rebuild it?

Game was set up for a let down. Not really surprised by the result.

Difference today was the Gophers OL. They were dominated thru the whole game and the offense could never put any distance between them and Rutgers.

Never really noticed it before but the Gophers punter is horrendous.

Gophers offense has done nothing. Can’t run the ball which allowed Rutgers to hang around and their D made the big play.

Game was going to come down to one big play and the Rutgers D made it.

Thankfully I was wrong on the penalty leading to points.

That penalty is going to lead to points for Rutgers.

So far this game has the look of the one team off a big road win, favorite on the road in their next game and ends up coming out flat. The home team coming off a bye after a blow out loss in their last game. Sets up for a nice situational spot for the home dog.

OL & DL both getting handled rather easily this half.

It the D can’t get off the field and make this QB look this good going to be a long day. Need to force some TOs.

What a horrible D series after the score.

I have no issue with someone liking the decision but someone saying I would have thought it was a brilliant call if they made the 1st down is stupid. 4&12 up by 6 at that point of the game no need for that call and give Illinois a short field goal.

Sparky? That’s as weak as the it would have been a brilliant call take.
