Has College Basketball Turned into a Boring sport?

How is the NCAA power 5 settlement going to change everything. May be good may be bad but it is going to change things significantly. Sounds like % of the tv revenue is going to go directly to the athletes. Pay for play without any chance of mislabling or it's application. My thing is it should...

Minnesota native Lu’Cye Patterson commits to the Gophers

When the opposition needed a basket they often targeted Hawkins. It will be nice not to have that problem but how many times did Hawkins make a clutch three or find an open man. I don't see how it isn't a loss.

Minnesota native Lu’Cye Patterson commits to the Gophers

That's kind of what Wisconsin did in the past. When that kid from Benilde played PG for them he was constantly taking last second shots. They would run the clock down to 10 seconds and if they didn't get a shot the PG would take it.

Minnesota native Lu’Cye Patterson commits to the Gophers

Based on last season's results then 9-11 or 10-10 seam's reasonable with 11th or 12th in conference. It's still a team sport and how they play together is important. Each individual doesn't always equal the whole.

All Things Class of 2025 Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

If you are only going to have them for a year or two anyway it's just better to go the portal route. Getting a guy who needs a year or two to develop is a waist of time.

    Returning Playas for 2024-25

Good, we score high marks on what ultimately will end up being 10% of the decision making factor's.

Cam Christie #8 in top players uncommitted in Transfer portal.

Because he was invited to the combine he basically has to decide if he wants to play professionally next year. If I'm not mistaken if he gets drafted he has to go pro, if he slides and is not picked in the second round he can always return to college. Either way I'm guessing he makes more money...

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread - 2024

Calipari is saying he is going to take 8 or 9 and maybe 10 max schollies. For practicing purposes he is going to find graduate assistants that played at a high level.

Seriously How Can The Gophers Compete???

That's just the way it's going to be in the future. You are going to have to look at the mid majors for the younger players. The top 4* and 5* guys are still going to be on the power 6 rosters but after that kids out of high school are going to have to go to the mid majors and play their way up.

Minnesota kids you really enjoyed watching

Was Hunter the PG at Mechanics Arts in 1974. That guy was built like a barrel, had the quickness of a walrus, but because of his stout build he could create his own shot and he was deadly. Hard guy to defend. Landsburger on the fast break was a force of nature. Let him get within 10 feet of the...

Seriously How Can The Gophers Compete???

No it doesn't unless you participate in a non revenue sport then it might have huge impacts. Just like the recruiting thread. It really doesn't matter much anymore. High school recruits are really not going to impact outcomes for the most part unless you get the 5* kids.

Three more if I am not mistaken, a big, a small forward, and best player available. I guess you could give at least one to a walk on.

    Femi Odukale commits

The pro game is different because of the 24 second shot clock and skill levels, more individual scoring, less ball movement.

Caleb Williams commits to the Gophers

Not sure why you say that. His skill set is not all that different than Hawkins and Willis the two PG's that have been successful under Johnson.

    Femi Odukale commits

Mike Max was saying that it was rumored that Danja was getting in the 1 mill range from Memphis. He also said his sources were saying Hawkins increased his NIL by 280k at Texas Tech. Nothing is verified because the numbers aren't published.

Caleb Williams commits to the Gophers

Williams has very good quickness, not sure Hawkins kept up with him in the matchup last year, part of the reason he scored 40 is my guess. Would be hard for him to match Hawkins productivity on offense but I think he will be an upgrade defensively. If he ends up starting at PG I don't see it as...

    Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

Such a simple solution, unfortunately it will never happen, for some reason the non revenue sports are valued.
