    Murderer's Row Coming Up

Agree, but Teri Moren knows how to coach. Unclear if Jan Jensen can be a good head coach. She has struggled this year with lineups and substitutions.

    Murderer's Row Coming Up

As of 1/27, the Gophers strength of schedule is ranked # 126, based on the NET, and #159, based on the RPI. But on an RPI basis, the Gophers are predicted to finish the regular season with a strength of schedule ranked # 81. Opportunity Row will really increase the Gophers' strength of schedule.

    B1G Game 9: Gophers host Badgers (1-26-25)

The new BIG schedule makes the bottom seem worse. In previous years, the BIG scheduled extra double plays among the bottom teams, but now only Penn State and Rutgers get a bottom-bottom double play (against each other).

    B1G Game 9: Gophers host Badgers (1-26-25)

The Gophers should take care of business, but the Badgers aren't quite as bad as their 1-7 BIG record. The Badgers were, however, one of the big losers with the new BIG schedule this year. First, with double plays eliminated (except for 1 game), the BIG can no longer schedule more double plays...

    B1G Game 8: Gophers host Michigan (1-22-25)

Agree 100%. This team needs 1 more player.

    B1G AP Rankings

Agree with your sentiment 100%, but not sure it's right to say Mara "could have gone anywhere." Her publicly announced final 6 were Minnesota, Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon State, Maryland and Iowa. That would be an interesting list if you could go anywhere. I never saw a complete list for...

    B1G Game 5: Gophers host Rutgers (1-8-25)

The McMiller situation is a dicey one for Coquese Washington and her attempt to rebuild from the wreckage left by Stringer. She cannot afford to lose McMiller having lost Smikle to the portal last year. Assume McMiller plays tonight. Coquese is also an interesting figure. She is revered in...

    Last 5 full seasons

Pretending 2020 doesn’t exists undermines the story here. The Gophers great 2019 season gave them credibility for 2020, and the Gophers were ranked # 19 in the 2020 preseason, their highest preseason ranking since 1969. So the Gophers got their respect, but then laid an egg out of the gate in...

PJ was hired 8 years ago today. What grade would you give the Fleck era?

1 ranked season in 8 years. B-, despite the glorious season in 2019.

    Last 5 full seasons

This is the right instinct. It is hard to find a single week from 2021-24 when the Gophers should have been ranked when they were unranked. I could find only 1 week in 2021 where I thought they probably should have been ranked. That's it. In 2024, if my quick check is right, the Gophers did...

Love the chart. Where did you get, if you don't mind the question? I've seen this for the men for years, but not for the women.

    Other B1G Conference Games 2024-25

Every time I see the name Jenna Johnson I think if she had just made her free throws the whole Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark drama might have been avoided. In the 2023 NCAA tourney Johnson missed 2 free throws against LSU with 4 seconds left down 1 point. Not a guarantee Utah wins if she makes...

    B1G Game 4: Gophers host Illinois (1-5-25)

Other teams took advantage of Braun’s absence-due-to-injury last season. Only fair for the Gophers to take advantage of Cook’s expected absence tomorrow.

Should P.J. Fleck's Gophers have bigger goals (and more accomplishments)? (video)

2019 was great, the best season in 50+ years, but 1 AP ranked finish in 8 years is the mark of a mediocre program. Need to aim higher and do better.

STrib: Five reasons the Gophers women are 14-1 after beating Wisconsin

I thought about that possibility, but don't think so. Hence my confusion. For example, Penn State is 83 in the NET, which is still Quad 3 for the men (Home 76-160), not Quad 1, as Ski U Mah indicated, though it's getting close to Quad 2 for the men (Home 31-75), while it's closer to the bottom...

STrib: Five reasons the Gophers women are 14-1 after beating Wisconsin

Agree with everything in your post except "The NC schedule may very well keep us from making the Big Dance." Barring further injuries, I believe the Gophers will rack up home conference wins and make the Big Dance, perhaps with a schedule-influenced lower seed, but still in the Dance.

STrib: Five reasons the Gophers women are 14-1 after beating Wisconsin

I'm confused by your post. At present, the Gophers have 14 wins, and all 14 wins are Quad 3 and Quad 4 wins under the NET system that the NCAA uses. The Gophers two BIG wins and SMU are Quad 3 wins, not Quad 1, as you say. Houston, Vermont, Oregon St and Louisiana are all Quad 4 wins, not Quad...

    Other B1G Conference Games 2024-25

Iowa is still discombobulated and trying to figure out their rotations. Will be interesting to see how they are when they arrive in Williams in February. Their 4 freshman getting minutes seem very inconsistent game-to-game. None of their freshman are performing as well as McKinney.

    B1G Game 3: Gophers visit Wisconsin (12-31-24)

A must win for the Badgers too, though don’t think it will help them. The Badgers sorta have the reserve schedule than the Gophers. They play USC, UCLA, OSU and Maryland all at home (the Gophers play them all on the road). So that’s 4 home losses baked in for Bucky. They also get Michigan at...

    B1G Game 3: Gophers visit Wisconsin (12-31-24)

As of today, the Gophers' BIG road schedule is 6 Quad 1 games (Nebraska, MD, USC, UCLA, OSU & MSU), 1 Quad 3 game (Wisconsin) and 2 Quad 4 games (Purdue and Northwestern). Beating Wisconsin is the best chance for a non-Quad 4 road victory (although winning at MSU is possible).
