In hindsight, this outcome is not that surprising. This is Mark Gronowski's sixth year as a starting college QB.

I agree with your take except one thing. I wonder if he turns out to be a very good FBS QB. His legs force teams to put more guys up to stop the run making the passing game easier. A guy like Drake with no mobility is facing more guys in pass defense because they aren't worried about him...

I think our team is younger than most with our best players, but I'll admit I'm too lazy to research it. Part of my point is that we aren't that good so less players will be poached to go up a level (pro or better teams) and so they'll stay here and improve. We can only wait and see. I also...

I'm not so sure that 3.7 yards is legit. Iowa was basically trying to run out the clock the whole second half and ran a very vanilla offense vs. the first half. They did what PJ does with a 10 point lead, but they had a 30 point lead. They wanted to run the ball, we knew they wanted to run...

    Lemeke Brockington is our guy

GG podcast said he should have gone the distance on his screen pass, but just got tripped up. That would have helped a lot. Momentum is real and we had none of it.

    1) We have a relatively young team especially when you look at our best players. None are really good enough to be a threat to go pro early though so should be back. They should be improved since they are only 20-year olds. The only threat to leave early is Anthony Smith and even he has been...

I must say, I'm glad I went and worked in my yard after we fell behind 31-0 or I'd probably be just as worked up as the rest of you. I feel better today because I was actually productive yesterday and have some perspective. Let me point out a few things after going back and watching the rest...

Always remember this: Minnesota had more sacks than Nebraska had points.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Former five star portal transfer from Alabama. Struggled with consistency because of a lack of mental discipline. Wow! That happened again in a big way!

Is Our D Coaching Brutally Bad At Times?

I think our DL is below average for the B1G and so are our corners. The two in combination are causing big problems in both pass and run defense. The corners are a big step down from last year. Our linebackers and safeties are about average. The linebackers look worse because of the DL play...

Is Our D Coaching Brutally Bad At Times?

I heard the same. We were being forced out of zone because our corners aren't very good at it some of it from lack of experience, but I'm sure other factors too (talent, coaching, etc.). We go to man because at least conceptually it's easier, chase your one guy around. However, we're not very...

Is Our D Coaching Brutally Bad At Times?

Only WR is near as good or better this year.

    I see 2 more wins

I started a thread a while back saying last year's team was better than this years (as evidenced by the number of draft picks & UDFAs we had) and next year's will be too. My guess is we hit the portal HARD next year for OL. We did this offseason, but we just missed on those guys. It happens...

Ranking the top 10 freshman QBs in college football (9. Drake Lindsey, Minnesota)

#1 & #2 crack me up a little. It's just too easy to rank them at the top. They have dominant teams compared to their competition. I think we know more about the other guys that are forced to elevate their teams, not the other way around.

    Sugar Daddy!?

Once all those genius Cal-Berkley alumns start contributing to the Cal football program, we can add them and Stanford to the B1G and have a proper west coast division and stop flying these kids all the place! It will solidify the B1G as the smartest conference in the nation!

    Gopher football

Right, our running game rightfully scared Ohio State in 2021. Nothing scared them this time around. Our running game is bad and our receivers are not good enough to get separation on their DBs. If you can't run the ball and you can't throw the ball... On the other side of the ball, one of...

the offensive and defensive lines are as bad as they've been under Fleck

A pod I listened to said Ohio State, like most teams, started out in zone because that's the safest way to play if you can get away with it, but Drake picked it apart. After that, they went more to man and their athletes basically blanketed our receivers for the rest of the game.

This Gophers team is worse than last year. Next year's team will be better. Agree or disagree?

I think that upgrade is coming. Who wouldn't want to play with Drake for the next few years? He's a tall, smart, accurate, big armed QB that spreads the ball around and you get to play with him for the next two years (after this year). He rarely gets balls batted down because of his height...

This Gophers team is worse than last year. Next year's team will be better. Agree or disagree?

The gap between P4 teams like us and the FCS has increased because of NIL and TV money which is to our benefit. I agree the gap between the "professional" teams and us is still there. I think there are less "professional" teams now because that depends on big boosters dumping money into a...
