    Transfer Portal 2025

That's just dismissing a lot of the talent on the team! They currently have a field goal percentage of 43.6%, which puts them in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten and very close to some great teams. Illinois shot 43.4%, USC shot 44.4%, and Michigan State shot 44.3%. Hart and Stewart both...

    Transfer Portal 2025

I guess whenever I hear people saying that we need some unidentified scoring threats from the portal, my main reaction is to ask for specifics on what players they think are gettable and why they are better than our core group. And specifically, who should these new players replace? Because half...

    Transfer Portal 2025

As long as there isn't a mass exodus, the Gophers are pretty good on shooters. Braun, Battle, Grocholski, Heyer, Johnson, McKinney, and maybe Christian are all credible 3 point shooters when they get open. Braun, Battle, and Woodson are very good in the midrange, and I've seen Grocholski working...

    Transfer Portal 2025

The Hoosiers are the other team I follow most closely, and what happened with Meister playing from the bench for the second half of the season was interesting. She would be a great backup to Hart and can theoretically shoot the three (although not nearly as well as Stewart)! IU's whole team...

    NCAA Tournament 2025

And maybe they can start punching above their weight and poaching some top 20-40 recruits from other states too!

WBIT Game 2: Gophers visit Missouri State (3-23-25)

Battle IS an experienced point guard!!! And without a lot of money to throw around, we're just not going to get anyone better in the portal (because Battle already ranks in the top 10 of Big Ten players for some key stats). She'll be a senior next year and with her this season, the Gophers...

WBIT Game 2: Gophers visit Missouri State (3-23-25)

I'm not so concerned how they'll do against the Gopher defense, which is undoubtedly much better than Oral Roberts's defense. Missouri State only played two Power Four teams this year, and they lost both games. Florida State was 97-66 and Texas Tech was 72-69.

WBIT Game 1: Gophers visit Toledo (3-20-25)

The way some people here were talking, it was as if the Gophers trailed the whole game instead of led the whole game. No team in the WBIT is a terrible slouch and it's hard to play on the road against any half decent team. A win is a win and we live to fight another day. I'd also say games like...

    WBIT Bracket 2025

The first four out are automatically the four 1 seeds in the WBIT, so that would be why. (Assuming the NCAA committee agreed with bracketology that the Gophers were not first four out.)

    Transfer Portal 2025

With all due respect to Ronnie Porter (she's good), unless there's a significant loss to the portal, I think she'd be way down the depth chart as the Gophers have plenty of bigger guards with more potential. I bet we'll get one or two solid post players in the portal. I really liked what...

    WBIT Bracket 2025

This article says we're unable to host on Sunday as well: https://www.twincities.com/2025/03/17/womens-basketball-gophers-wbit/ Honestly, very disappointing as a fan. The one consolation of the Gophers falling out of the NCAA bubble was the prospect of still being a top WBIT seed and getting a...

    WBIT Bracket 2025

That depends on who we'd face in the quarterfinals. If Colorado keeps winning, they retain the right to host as a higher seed than Minnesota. So the Gophers might only get to host on Sunday. Then the semifinals and championship are in Indianapolis no matter what.

    NCAA Bracketology

It really is ridiculous. There were at least a couple WNIT games I felt we should have hosted last year instead of traveling all over the country, but we couldn't because of a robotics tournament. If you're the coach, a potential recruit, or a current player considering transferring and you see...

    NCAA Bracketology

The WBIT selection show just finished and has confirmed that "due to a facility conflict" the Gophers will be traveling to Toledo for round one despite being the higher seed. We are literally the only higher seed in the bracket that is traveling and giving up home court advantage. Disappointing...

    NCAA Bracketology

Oh, interesting. I didn't realize they were splitting between three locations on Thursday. Well maybe we won't host even if we're a top 4 WBIT seed! With all that happens at Williams at this time of year, it makes me wonder what the plan would be if the Gophers ever played well enough to host...

    Pathetic Schedule

I was just always of the mind that when you're in a demanding conference already, the extra bit that prepares you to compete happens in practice (or completely off the court) and the rest will follow as you get into conference play. Maybe that was wrong, maybe they weren't doing the right things...

    NCAA Bracketology

Not particularly lol. I just knew they already beat the 1 seed yesterday. Maybe I spoke with too much certainty, but it will definitely be interesting if they pull out the win!

    NCAA Bracketology

It looks like when everything is said and done, Oregon State, who the Gophers beat 73-38 in Arizona (with Mara), will make the tournament. They beat Gonzaga in the WCC Tournament semifinal yesterday and just need to win the championship game today to get an automatic bid. Also, as of last...

    Notable Coaching Changes 2024

I was thinking she'd be a natural fit to transfer to UCLA for her last year, but then Lauren Betts announced she was coming back for another year instead of declaring for the WNBA draft, so that went out the window.

B1G tourney game 1: Gophers versus Washington (3-5-25)

Which seems very likely if they don't make the NCAA tournament. The top four seeds of the WBIT are the first four teams out of the tournament.
