Penn State fired a winning coach to find a great one. What does history say about that decision?

I'd probably put Michigan over Oregon. Resource wise maybe slight lean to Oregon due to Nike (though Michigan has Jordan) but far better/wider spread donor base at Michigan with vastly better history and excellent midwest recruiting ties (Oregon has Cali, but has to compete with a hell of a lot...

    Sellout?

there are probably a couple thousand there. the problem is there are multiple thousand tickets also available on stubhub, tickpick, etc. so will be interesting to see what the butts in seats actually are. Weather looks solid though breezy.

    Sellout?

this. they don't price to sellout any sport, which is impressively dumb. Selling atmosphere makes people want to come to school here, donate, etc. Instead they, like multiple other schools, have tried raising ticket prices to balance their fucking up the budget and murdered in person attendance...

The Athletic: Big Ten football midseason grades for all 18 teams: Mysteries, trainwrecks, title hopefuls (Minnesota: C)

I mean it 16% of the season so far, so would make sense given that was a pretty abject failure. the same as the season is probably a D if we had lost to purdue, Rutgers or buffalo. didn't see how they graded all the teams, but C seems right given its right on average of what was expected...

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

just a general comment, the bengals are, statistically, the worst defensive team in football (DVOA). Part of box score looking is it also entirely ignores the game flow and what's happening on a down by down standpoint. The Steelers ran the ball for 7.4 yards/carry (despite only a long of 37)...

Video: P.J. Fleck is BEST Minnesota Gophers coach in 75 years!

why you wouldn't just say 50 and make it way more accurate is impressively dumb, but I guess what do you expect out of these guys? Tough to make generation comparison given the Nebby add in 2011 and the MD/Rutgers add in 2014, all of which made the conference worse in terms of average strength...

Penn State fired a winning coach to find a great one. What does history say about that decision?

I think it's more they have seen what the donors had to say about if they didn't do it this year (remember, a bunch of guys came back explicitly to try win it all which you know cost them a ton of NIL money with OSUs $20mil roster investment being noted as a "blueprint" for PSU), Franklin needed...

Cignetti Extended At IU - 8 Yrs, $93M

you're making a bold assumption there. Current AD tenures are about 5-6 years. None of these guys is thinking about 10 years from now. It's the same group that's paying Mike Woodson 4.2mil/yr to regress and miss the NCAA tournament and pay his buyout to now hire darian devries and pay him as a...

Cignetti Extended At IU - 8 Yrs, $93M

I think you are forgetting the power of nostalgia and "one of us" has on all fan bases. Same reason people always bring up Dungy or Marc Trestman when there's an opening here, but his success as a player (was on teams from 94-97 where PSU was 39-8 and was there as part of the undefeated 94...

Cignetti Extended At IU - 8 Yrs, $93M

Tbh, he could yea but I think it’s the flip. IU has seen the massive uptick in donations with Cig at the helm and was willing to eat say an annual 5mil increase as they think he directly generates more in donations from multiple big donors (Cuban being one). That said, the instant he starts...

Cignetti Extended At IU - 8 Yrs, $93M

Still would come out of the athletic departments budget, with all these schools claiming they’re in debt and can’t handle the revenue sharing with players

Cignetti Extended At IU - 8 Yrs, $93M

"i don't know how we're losing all this money" writes a contract for a fully guaranteed salary that would be top 10 in the NFL despite the fact that that league generates 20x as much money.

that's a little more reassuring. from what I remember, overall seating at T Mobile is pretty good. we were in the uppers in STL at about mid-ice. Usually try end up middle of the ice if i can, but ends are ok if you get up high enough imo.

    Gopher Hockey Season Thread 25-26

probably a bit too early to tell a ton on the PP in terms of percentages, but they do look better in zone with Mooney much more dynamic than us just setting up one timers for Snuggy like last year, and Zeimer looks like a great bumper player. So I've got some optimism there. The PK looks the...

What Teams Need QBs in the 2026 NFL Draft?

favorite part is last year's projected guys are.... Arch Manning #1 Cade Klubnick #2 Sam Leavitt #3 Drew Allar #4 Sellers #5 or Nussmeier #1 Allar #2 Klubnick #3 Sellers #4 Mendoza #5 Leavitt #6 which tells you all you need to know about this class sucking coming in and basically everyone...
