***OFFICIAL PURDUE AT MINNESOTA HOMECOMING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

All right! Scored a touchdown and gave the defense some rest.

***OFFICIAL PURDUE AT MINNESOTA HOMECOMING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Given the terrible start, it could have been a lot worse and I'm surprised it's as close as it is. Please don't throw to Smith much in the second half. He hasn't converted a target yet in this game. I won't say that the defense has been great but they've been good enough to keep this a game...

"If Minnesota wants to entertain a modicum of hope, it must beat Nebraska."

Agreed. Sooner or later Nebraska is going to beat us again. If we can only win one of Nebraska and Iowa, I would prefer Iowa because that is a much rarer feat.

Fleck after watching OSU film: "There's so much good in that film. It gets covered up by the score, but there's a lot of good to pull from that game."

True. I actually thought that loss to Michigan was a good loss because it taught the team that they could come back and score in bunches. What irked me about that call is that onside kicks are so difficult to pull off well that you should give the team who does it the benefit of the doubt and...

People who are always negative are annoying but people who are always positive can be annoying too. Sometimes you have to be willing to say that if something looks like shit and smells like shit, then it must be shit.

I think you're mixing up seasons. The Michigan team that beat us 52-10 in the 2023 season won the national championship. The year after (2024) they were nothing special but they beat us that year 27-24. We might have tied them at least if the refs didn't waive off our recovered onside kick on...

RandBall: If the Gophers are a ‘really good football team,’ it’s time to show it

There's certainly a possibility that I'll have to eat my words at the end of the season but this team clearly appears below the 2021 and 2022 teams to me and I also think it's below last year's team. Last year's team finished the regular season only 7-5 but only one of those losses was by more...

RandBall: If the Gophers are a ‘really good football team,’ it’s time to show it

Did you forget that they also ended the season ranked 10th that year?

RandBall: If the Gophers are a ‘really good football team,’ it’s time to show it

He could be. He's not God you know. I don't know. I just know what I've seen so far and it's not that encouraging. We are 1-2 against power conference teams. I know we never had a chance to beat Ohio State but we weren't even competitive. They beat us worse than they beat Ohio University...

RandBall: If the Gophers are a ‘really good football team,’ it’s time to show it

I agree with you but the evidence so far tells me that we aren't as good as we hoped and we are not "a very good team." For this team, I would say that a 5-2 finish would be fantastic and a 4-3 finish would be good.

Minnesota Vs. Purdue 2025 - Media Predictions

I'll believe that this team will score 40 or 38 points against any Big Ten team when I see it. The same goes for beating any Big Ten team by three touchdowns. So, Gophers on SI and Pro Football Network seem way too generous. College Football News seems the most realistic but The Daily Gopher...

Fleck after watching OSU film: "There's so much good in that film. It gets covered up by the score, but there's a lot of good to pull from that game."

You know, your anti-negativity routine has gotten so predictable that it borders on self-parody. Sometimes you just have to let people vent a little. There's no clear reason why fans should feel good right now. If the next few weeks brings a decent recovery, then people will have positive...

    Gopher Picked 16th by Media

CBS Sports had us at #15 in the summer (I think they had NW below us as well as PSU and Rutgers) so I'm sticking with that prediction.

"There's so much good in that film. It gets covered up by the score, but there's a lot of good to pull from that game." Could you be more specific coach? Maybe you could give some examples because I think many of us missed all that good stuff.

This Gophers team is worse than last year. Next year's team will be better. Agree or disagree?

The 5-7 2023 team didn't get better as the season went on. They lost their last four games of the regular season and only one of them was close.

My feeling at this point is that we can rule out "good" but "OK" is still in play.

    Gophers -9.5 over Purdue

That's not for the whole season. That's roughly the average of the passing defense performance against the three power conference teams they played. I just did the numbers against those three teams (average of 290 passing yards given up with a 68% completion percentage). The averages are...

    Gophers -9.5 over Purdue

Yes, I'm surprised to see another generous spread given to the Gophers at this point of the season. The team hasn't covered the spread in any of the four games against FBS teams. I expect this spread to drop a bit before Saturday.
