    Minatee out for the year

And I hate to say it, but I have a bad feeling about Hanson. This team does not make a habit of giving players a match off unless there is something serious going on. Hope I'm wrong.

    Minatee out for the year

No. And the program has been fairly fortunate with knee injuries over the years. Concussions have/had been a bigger issue. Mike's first year, that team with 11 players, was held together with duct tape, but nothing like this. You'd need to go back several years, however, to find a team that...

    Gopher trivia

How about injury trivia? Who lost a tooth while scrimmaging in the Pav? (Hint: she also suffered an ACL injury, but not at the same time.) Hint for question #1 -- she played under two different names while a Gopher. Hint for question #2 -- 5' 2". I have no absolute proof there was no one...

    Gopher trivia

Bonus: Who had the shortest career? (Choboy does not count. This player was on the roster.) Bonus, bonus, the fewest number of players on a team? All my answers are subject to factchecking, btw.

    Gopher trivia

OK. While you all are pondering that one (right? that's what you're doing, right?), here's another one: Who is the shortest Gopher volleyball player in program history?

    Gopher trivia

Since Robert Redford is (unfortunately) in the news, can you tell me which Gopher player was nicknamed "Hobbes" by Mike Hebert? There will be no prize other than a pat on the head.

Diet Coke Classic: South Florida, Dayton and South Dakota State: Sept. 12, 13 & 14, 2025

Kinney with some good swings against Dayton. If she and Acevedo can keep it up the team will be competitive. Still not convinced they will hang with top 20 teams, let alone top 10, but it's a step in the right direction.

And Trammel. It's not a new strategy for them.

Izzy Starck Leaves Penn State Team

Just to make my point. THIS year's roster (let alone last year): Jordan Hopp (Iowa State) Addie Lyon (St Louis) Emmi Sellman (Ohio State) Caroline Jurevicius (Nebraska) Kennedy Martin (Florida) Maggie Mendelsohn (Nebraska) That's 314 of their 354 kills. 772 of their 856 attacks. Good thing...

Izzy Starck Leaves Penn State Team

Nothing nefarious no doubt. I just don't like these programs built by grabbing players developed in other places.

    Zeynep out for the year

It's always going to be the big "what if." What if Hugh had stayed for another couple of years, at least?

Izzy Starck Leaves Penn State Team

Interesting to see the career trajectories of the last two frosh setters who led their respective teams to a NC. I do not like how Penn State is running their program. It's a shame that this has happened to one of their actual recruits. I wish her the best.

Lippy Invitational: Vanderbilt and Lipscomb September 5 & 6, 2025

Well, you have to like how clean they played in the Lipscomb match, but still not seeing the rightside offense or the floor defense they are going to need to compete with top 20 teams. I'm still not convinced this is fixable. Not this season anyhow. One can hope ...
