    I'll match that!

    Quarterback

It's different than when Sanford struggled. There were a lot plays this year that had big play potential (nice design with receivers wide open), but usually the QB failed to execute and sometimes the receivers dropped the ball. However, part of coaching is knowing the strengths of your players...

2023-2024 College Football Coaches Hired/Fired Thread

And trending the wrong way. We need a new group of Harvey McKay's to become boosters. I believe Harvey is/was part of the Paul Giel friend group that supported Gopher athletics and was generous in giving back to his community and university. Here might be the only positive thing that Reusse...

Nice to have that John Mellencamp money 😀

    Quarterback

Someone came at me before for a post around this, but I would say the way T Morgan debuted vs Nebraska and then played really well for 1.5 years was the exception to Gopher QB play in my lifetime. I think the way Athan has looked this year is similar to how most first year starting Gopher QBs...

Do you mean the 4th down low probability pass to CrAB in the 4th Q? That was not a smart play.

Well I am glad that you feel like you blossomed thanks in part to Mpls and U of M education. I don't understand the wanting to crap on the place that you came from. No reason kids from outstate MN or other areas wouldn't look to the U of M campus as great option and pretty unique for the BIG.

Fleck needs to examine every facet of this program

That's right. I just looked up that game and I had forgotten that Croft threw three 4th quarter TDs and making the score 30-27. We almost Northwesterned MSU in 2017.

Okay I get that. We live on the edge of the North Side and I agree that it is a challenging situation to turn around. There are generations of poverty in the North side and it's concentrated. Many kids don't get to see successful people in the hood that look like them. Two of my kids went to...

Fleck needs to examine every facet of this program

I would add 2017 - Doesn't have an Oline or DLine. Anyone remember that darn game against MSU here when MSU ran the same power sweep all night and MN could not stop it? He has improved those key position groups (O and D line) since coming here.

I have lived in Mpls since 1991 and I think it's one of the best cities in the country. Great parks system, really good housing stock, good public schools (not as good as maybe 5 years ago) for a good sized american city, and plenty to do. It absolutely should be selling point outside of...

1982 vs 2023. Which collapse was worse?

That 82 game was the first Gopher game I attended. Somehow I still got hooked. The Metrodome seemed exciting, fans were pumped, and Hohensee was a pretty good QB. Little did I know as a 12 year old that Smokey Joe and the Metrodome were both poor fits for the program. I really do not like the...

    Already bowling (likely)

This team needs practices, and I love watching bowl games especially with BIG teams. Also it's a good message both locally and nationally to say this team was awarded a bowl invite due to their excellent academic standing.

Hmm, I guess I never thought your were a paranoid crazy person before. Did you go to school at the University of Minnnesota? Have you spent any time in the city lately?

Fleck needs to examine every facet of this program

Well it took until the last game of the year, but the punt and kick return games seemed reasonable today. I miss the old days where you could bring in a Damien Wilson or De'Vondre Campbell to suddenly make the LB corp one of the better in the big ten.

Yes for sure. I still think if he would have played vs Purdue, Purdue might have punted a few times. He is a huge factor.

I don't know why the offense can look fluid and decent like on the two TD drives and then look so constipated on other drives. I know Wisconsin's front 7 outplayed the Gophers, but some of the pass plays were obvious like 3rd and 8 and then Athan didn't typically make good throws or decisions.

Official 2024 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

Key guys that I hope stay: Offense: D Jackson A Ersery Athan because we need him and the staff needs to develop him during the offseason Freshman OL Johnson Defense: Wally Joyner Really everyone as the defense had zero depth this year (capable of playing well)
