I think we’re missing the overall point here. Yes football has a skill set. Yes, those skills can be developed and any high school program would prefer their kids play youth. But, the point is that kids do not need to be a part of all star teams in football in order to be successful in high school.

Not skill based. All things a high school kid can learn.

Well, to some degree it should. However, football is a little bit different. Kids can pick up football in 9th, 10th, or even 11th grade and end up being very successful at it. Football is about being strong, quick and athletic. Of course, there are some exceptions to this, such as a quarterback...

Youth football should be about three things: 1. Having fun 2. Safety 3. Learning the game Boys develop physically at such differing levels. How many kids who play varsity football end up in a completely different position than what they played in youth ball? Dads who want to brag about their...

I know injuries happen at every level, but at 6A the long game seems to be who can lose the fewest starters going into the playoffs.

Since 2012 (13 years ago), Farmington has advanced beyond the first round of the playoffs just one time. I’m not “slandering” them. It is what it is. This season, thus far, Farmington, like Lakeville North has not played very good competition. Check in a few weeks and remind me of what...

This whole turn in the conversation was based on you stating that Lakeville North is “still good”. They’re not…at all. They will likely go 1-7. That’s not “good” by any standard, And, it’s not like they are playing a tough schedule. They aren’t in the West and losing to Minnetonka, Maple Grove...

I understand what you are saying, but there is something very emotional about the North-South game that motivates the underdog every time they play. This is a very heated rivalry, a factor not involved if Eden Praire were to play say, Woodbury for a random example.

I'd go with Eden Prairie or Centennial and I really don't think #25 would stay within four scores of either of them to be honest.

You are right in that game they were very competitive, but if North goes 1-7/ 2-6 and South goes 7-1/ 6-2 isn't a reasonable conclusion that they are in fact, not similar in the collective assessment of a season? I realize it has not happened yet, but it sure looks like it may very well unfold...

I’m just hearing a lot of excuses for Lakeville North. I have nothing, absolutely nothing, against Lakeville North. But the truth of the matter is they are 0-3 and they still have to play Prior Lake, Rosemount, Champlin Park, and Shakopee. They might get one win out of that. They’ve scored four...

I think he probably meant they lost a large Senior class from last year, meaning most of their starters were seniors. Even in big schools there are "down" classes that either don't have ton of kids out for football or they just aren't super talented. I doubt they were suggesting a bunch of...

Sorry, but North still being good is a tough sell. I’d guess Blaine and Farmington finish around .500. The South game was close because of the rivalry.
