College Football Rankings 2025: CFN Preseason No. 26 to 50 - Power Programs That Could Crash the Top 25 (26. Minnesota)

Win our first game decisively and we should hit the top 25 before week 2. That makes staying ranked throughout the year a lot easier. I’d love to see the Gophers ranked for 13 straight weeks (2 bye weeks).

Which road game are you going to?

I thought the prices were a bit steep too and looked at Stub Hub or something and saw some nice seats for $75 plus fees. But I still decided to buy them from the U ticket office because sitting with fellow Gophers is always fun. And if we’re losing we can always hate on Iowa together. 🤣

Surprising Big Ten Offense Has Elite Running Back Room

I’m comfortable with 11th. I think we have a chance to be a little better if the line gels and most players take a step up.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

I know you’re kidding, but you’re dancing with the devil on that one. 😈

P.J. Fleck gets a new contract extension—pending approval from Board of Regents—keeping him under contract until 2030.

Fleck is the coach he can hang his hat on. Overall, I think he’s made good coaching choices except for Johnson. Lindsey was a hometown higher that in hindsight he shouldn’t have made. I’ve never warmed to Motzko like previous UM hockey coaches, but others here seemed to have liked the higher.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Then why can’t we compete in the pay 4 play NIL? This is the first year in a while I feel underwhelmed by our recruiting.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Thank you for your detailed reply. I would think the B1G would mandate every school report the same way, except maybe the private schools (NU and USC).

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but how do you know or prove their financials are doctored?

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

I could be wrong, but I think a well run and competitive WBB could operate in the black at Minnesota. These B1G women’s programs all made at least $5 million in 2023: 1. Purdue - $7.0 million 2. Rutgers - $6.8 million 3. USC - $5.7 million 7. UCLA - $5.6 million Link...

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Football brings in the revenue and Fleck is a positive for all sports. Right now, the Gophers can’t risk losing him.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

I wish women’s hockey was part of the mix too, but there aren’t many dollars left after football and MBB.

UCF coach Scott Frost on what he learned from Nebraska: "Don't take the wrong job."

Could be, but I think it’s more likely he saw an opportunity to go home and lead his Huskers back to greatness.

UCF coach Scott Frost on what he learned from Nebraska: "Don't take the wrong job."

So you believe Frost when he says he didn’t want to take the Nebby job, but was pushed into it? Frost said, “I got tugged in a direction to try to help my alma mater and didn't really want to do it.”

A rivalry with the Washington Huskies?

That is the story and since they already won the national championship the Gopher coaches and players vacationed more than they practiced, which was the accepted way for a Rose Bowl exhibition game. The Huskies were so certain they won the 1960 national championship they waited 47 years to...

Wow an end of an era on #Gophers campus as Annie’s Parlour closed after more than 50 years! Who has great memories going there while in Dinkytown?

Annie’s was a great place with great food. Haven’t been there since the very early 80’s. It was reasonably priced and a good date night stop.

U of M Total Operating Revenue by Sport for 2024 (football is 75%, other 18 sports are 25%)

I don’t think Ohio State men’s hockey was ever in the WCHA, but were in the CCHA. It was quite the uproar when Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame left the WCHA in 1981 to join Ohio State in the CCHA.

Sacramento State is hiring Tim Brewster as senior associate head coach.

Brewster focused on 5 and 4 star recruits, which Minnesota didn’t have many, but when they did he laid out the red carpet for them.
