Coach Knowles on the challenge that Minnesota presents: "They're the best 4th down conversion team in the country."

So, based on these stats, both teams should be going for it on every 4th down like that high school team in Texas, and then it may be a dogfight.

Souhan: Fleck has made this program all about him. His players have been asked to stand when he enters a room and are left to parrot his cliches

Whoa, I’d say it is wishful thinking and maybe a bit narcissistic to think that Wisconsin’s and Iowa’s coaching moves were primarily because of Fleck. They were both declining and not seeing themselves competitive in the expanding Big Ten. While it is nice to associate Fleck finally beating...

Jim Harbaugh calls Michigan "America's Team"

In the Big Ten, only Michigan could be mired in an obvious systematic cheating investigation and be portrayed as the overcomer, the persecuted, the world against them. Sherron Moore’s rant was kind of sickening to me. Maybe I’m being too hard on him as it’s personal, but it’s so sick for the...

    Fleck prediction

Eugene, Oregon is as far or further geographically, demographically and culturally from recruiting hotbeds in FL, GA, TX, etc. than Minneapolis.

SI: Gophers' PJ Fleck: Without NIL money, we can't keep team intact

How about a universal NIL non compete clause? If you transfer you can still play but you may not sign an NIL deal for 1 year. How about, freshmen cannot be offered NIL deals until they are enrolled in school? That way schools cannot entice kids to verbal or flip based on crazy NIL numbers...

The Fleck staring into space look

In my college days I could take on the “six pack and a pound” but I don’t think I usually got through much of the potato olés.

    P5 NIL Team Rankings + G5 notables

What do these numbers even mean? Are these potential NIL$ contracts? Are they guaranteed to be paid as long as they’re on the team and meeting some minimum legal standard that constitutes participating in NIL?

2023 SEC Championship Game: Alabama, Georgia to meet in Atlanta

💯 this would happen. It would be justified though.

Who’s worse than the Gophers with 2 games left in the entire Big Ten?

If the Gophers can’t beat Wisconsin this year then yikes. Wisconsin is terrible and regressing. If they do beat Wisconsin then it will be a pretty bittersweet year winning both Floyd and Axe but going 6-6.

Did Fleck sit Lindenberg to preserve his redshirt?

That discussion must be a lot different now with NIL pouring gasoline on the portal “fire.” Kids may be less likely to sit around in a backup role when they could be getting paid as a starter somewhere else.

U Dub may look a bit different too without Pennix.

What are your Top 4 Worst Losses under Fleck?

I am convinced that Fleck wanted to drive that 2017 “Year 0” team into the ground so he could have a lower expectation to rebuild from.

    BTW WITHIN REACH!!!

Beating Iowa and Wisconsin in the same year, - when they’re both on their backup QBs - when you also lose to Illinois (Bielema) and Northwestern - when you don’t win the West …beating both is just not that satisfying.

    Go Win the West!

I’m thinking that if PJ can’t beat both Iowa and Wisconsin when they look this terrible, what future ceiling does he see when he not only still has to worry about those protected games every year, but no longer has a reprieve when he misses OSU/Michigan because those may just be replaced by...

    Go Win the West!

What incredible luck for PJ to get a chance for the last West title in a division full of injuries, coaching turnover and scandals. Wonder if he would use it though, as a springboard to another job with more NIL and ability to compete in the superconference era.

Well, NDSU’s DC is now the interim HC at Northwestern. Looks like their D took a big step back.

CBS: Big Ten football grades - midseason report (Minnesota: D-)

Unfortunately this says as much about the poor quality of the B1G this year outside OSU PSU and Mich, than it does about the Gophers. You have to go back an entire generation to when ALL of the following were true: Wisconsin - an average non-factor, Iowa - below average with their current...

    Respect vs Over Hyping Opponents

It’s just Fleck’s MO to consistently manage expectations of him. Program he inherited was a disaster that needed complete overhaul, opponents are either giants or sleeping giants, team is almost always super young and/or inexperienced, etc.

This is surreal. Gophers had 5 passes in the 2nd half last night. 5!!!!

If the concern was staying healthy with little depth then why not rotate in the 3-4th stringers?

Non-conference games as we head into the future ...

Is that their job? Does it bring a higher profile if they win 1 more game and scrape into a third rate bowl which does not make a profit for the U? I’m not suggesting to schedule 3/3 Power 5 heavyweights in nonconf. But scheduling just 1, one might look at it as prescheduling a sort of “bowl...
