Elephant in the room? Williams Arena

At the very least more work has to be done to it to give it that sparkle!!

Over/Under on New Coaching Hire Announcement

March 23. I don’t care who it is as long as he can recruit. But I prefer Eric Musselman!

B1G Tournament Game 1: Gophers versus Nebraska (3-10-21)

For Pitino high expectations and low results were his death knell. Whalen was just the opposite with 8 newcomers this year. Whalen has good talent coming in. Pitino does not!!

Craig Smith is my vote, here’s why

Any one of the three. Either Musselman, Smith or Gates! Just someone who can sell Minnesota.

    B1G Game 17: Gophers Host Nebraska (2-24-21)

So, Haiby scored 22 against Smith and 0 against Scalia.

    B1G Game 17: Gophers Host Nebraska (2-24-21)

Nice to see Sconiers step up. Enjoy the balanced scoring. Not sure why Whalen has so much confidence in Smith.

    B1G Game 16: Gophers Maryland (2-20-21)

The one good thing that is happening with this team now is the extended playing time that some of the younger players are getting which in the long run will make this much better by being deeper. Still need that more dominating presence in the middle both offensively and defensively.

B1G Game 12: Gophers Visit Ohio State (2-7-21)

This team unfortunately simply does not have an inside presence

Questions from a casual fan about Whalen

Lindsay is recruiting well. Having that 6’3” interior presence is the only thing keeping this team from being very good. I would like to see her experiment more with a variety of line-ups especially when things aren’t working. Scalia can shoot and so can Hubbard. It looks like Strande can as...

    B1G Game 11: Gophers Host Iowa (1-31-21)

Strande has to play more. I’m not a big fan of Smith. She gets too much playing time, certainly more than is warranted. She looks lost out there a lot of the time. Strande would make an ideal backup for Scalia.

    B1G Game 10: Gophers Host Purdue (1-28-21)

They truly need a center that can control the middle. Someone who knows how to use their body like Monika Czinano at Iowa

    B1G Game 7: Gophers Host Maryland (1-14-21)

The beauty of Katie Borowicz is the fact that she is a POINT GUARD and does what a point guard does and that’s see the floor. That is the quality I looked for in all my point guards.

Katie Borowicz joins the Gophers early!

Excellent!! This team desperately needs a playmaker that can get the other members on the floor involved in the offense!!

    2022 Recruiting

Cosgriff is not coaching any longer and that’s a good thing. I still marvel at the fact that Bueckers had posters of Whalen hanging on her bedroom wall, but still chose to play for Auriemma. Hmmm?!
