REPORT: @On3Memphis has obtained direct messages of former Memphis DB Tahj Ra-El sending UTSA QB Owen McCown the Tigers' playbook before their game

What were the gambling odds/payoff if UTSA won? The more open and widespread legal sports betting becomes, the more we'll see this kind of stuff. If it was related gambling, it's outright illegal and dude should be held accountable.

Ranking the Big Ten's quarterbacks from worst to first heading into 2025 (18. Drake Lindsey (Minnesota))

Agreed. We had a howitzer mounted on a potato two years ago who finished around middle of the pack in a ton of metrics within the conference.

Fleck: Gophers have "no cap on the jar"

Charismatic dude. He speaks with conviction and his words have meaning, it's not empty coach speak. I'm glad he's here, I do feel like he's as much of a life coach to these guys as he is a football coach.

    Offense 79th, Defense 9th

I feel like this has been the trend for most of the years since 2019 - rock solid defense (generally) and narcoleptic offense. I'm still hopeful that last year was a sign of long term change in the independence of offensive playcalling.

    Offense 79th, Defense 9th

    Bad oline, neither matters?

    Offense 79th, Defense 9th

If I had to guess the coaching strategy, we'll probably be grinding for wins with the run game and hoping for another year of being 10+ in turnover margin. It's not impossible, Drake being better than his experience level and the receivers being able to get separation will help with that.

the internet is once again underwhelmed with the prospect of the upcoming Gopher football season.

5-4 in conference if all the chips fall as prognosticated. That would be fairly consistent based on our history under PJ and pretty good with a freshman playcaller, let's hope that's how it pans out at the worst.

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

To the argument that there are a lot of fees that are more egregious than this, the thing that sticks to me it that the U at its core is an academic institution, not an athletic institution. Students are being asked to pony up $200 for athletes who aren't furthering the students' education or...

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

On principle I think it's an awful decision. Tuition already covers fees related to the athletic department, adding costs to pay athletes that many (probably a plurality) of these students will never go to watch looks dirty. The excuse of "yeah, well other schools are doing it" rings hollow. And...

‘Slap in the Face’ Motivates Gophers New QB Drake Lindsey

Pretty sure an enormous amount of NIL money would be directed towards him if he does well. We're not accustomed to having an elite player at qb, I imagine we'd be pulling out all the stops to keep him here

P.J. Fleck gets a new contract extension—pending approval from Board of Regents—keeping him under contract until 2030.

So.... How close is he to his peers wage wise? How big is the salary difference between him and the #8 or #9 guy?

Top 10 Big Ten Coaches in 2025 (9. PJ Fleck, Minnesota)

Having Moore, Rhule, and Riley above Fleck is hilarious and shows what a dink the author is. 2023 also sucked, but I wouldn't put it in the tier of "disastrous." If we've achieved so much relevance that we can consider a 6 win year disastrous, I think we've made it, fellas.

Minnesota Golden Gophers in the NFL - 2025

Definitely looks terrifying on paper. O'Connell has a track record of making historically bad/over their head qbs look mediocre at worst, though. I could see Howell being Brad Johnson levels of serviceable if he had to jump in. Helps to have one of the better wr duos in the league running...

    Pierce Petersohn to announce tomorrow!!!

Ditto. I wish him nothing until we play each other, to which I will wish him to have three dropped passes, 2 catches for 6 yards, and half a dozen blown blocks leading to TFLs! You're officially in-conference competition until you're not anymore, kid. Maroon and Gold til the day I die, no one...

Every Big Ten team's best, worst case scenario in 2025: USC plays for league title? A three-loss Penn State?

I could fathom the worst case scenario happening. I don't think it will, but if the line sucks and we can't run, forcing Drake to shoulder the offense will not be ideal. And even if the defense plays like rockstars, time of possession will kill them as the season goes on if we're constantly...

Sacramento State is hiring Tim Brewster as senior associate head coach.

I'll always appreciate the guy, he thought he could do it and he couldn't. I don't believe for one second he was fraudulent at any point like a lot of people seem to think, he was just in over his head. And, without Brew we don't get Kill, and without Kill we don't end up in a situation where...

    Different Vibe

It's a combination of all of these takes that y'all have posted. Fleck is the common denominator but the guy has been doing ALL of the right things in the intangibles and behind the scenes departments
