What grade would you give the Gophers coaches in the win at Iowa?

Last win in Iowa City was 1999, during Ferentz' first year coaching. No matter the offensive struggles that Iowa may have from year to year, their defense has been excellent for a long long time. I might not agree with particular gameday decisions, who is starting where, why a coach is in a...

    invalid fair catch signal

Maybe. But my point was more that they didn't blow the play dead immediately at the invalid fair catch. My question is more around when the refs would stop play for an invalid fair catch. In the Gophers vs Iowa case, they didn't stop the PR while trying to return it. Why? I'll dig around a...

    invalid fair catch signal

I've been investigating this a bit more and it does appear that CFB can let an invalid fair catch play out. Here's an invalid fair catch from the Ohio State vs Purdue game from last year.

If the gophs beat Purdue, MSU, and Illinois

If the gophs beat Purdue, MSU, and Illinois

Rutgers could surprise. But yeah, @Nebraska might be it.

    invalid fair catch signal

In the NFL it's a 5 yard penalty.

    We out-Iowa-ed Iowa

Yup. I've been hoping for this for a while. If you don't got the offense to outmatch Iowa's defense, you're gonna have to Iowa Iowa.

    Elite Locker Room Celebration Video!!!

Winning at Iowa City is very difficult. The Hawkeyes are 24-5 at Iowa City since 2019. One of those five includes today.

For reference: Here's a whole bunch of NFL players getting invalid fair catch penalties. And in the NFL it's a penalty.

Technically the right call. You can't wave your arm like that. Find another way to communicate with your teammates.

Gophers vs Hawkeyes - 247 Starter ratings

Here's the 247 starter ratings for this week. Rules: 1 - www.ourlads.com is used for the starters. 2 - This is starting 11 only on both sides. If more than 11 are listed, I try to be fair when removing. When it's obvious that a player will not be playing, I slot in the next depth player or...

Fleck is fired up on KFAN

Ehh, the 27pts per game are not exactly because of Iowa's offense. I'd argue probably 25% (or more) are from Iowa's defense. Every year I say basically the same thing - if Minnesota wants to win against Iowa - don't turn the ball over.

    This guy is spot on

The only way that game stays close is if the Gophers had... 1 - a top OL squad AND 2 - a top QB

Wisconsin made a bold move, do we have the nerve to do the same?

Wisconsin and Iowa are no better off with NIL and they aren't going to be. They, along with all of the west (aside from Nebraska - for now), are in the same problematic boat that will not be solved by a change at captain.

Honest Question: What does PJ bring to the table?

If Troy was throwing around the most money in NIL per player, in five years they would be a CFB Playoff contender.

Honest Question: What does PJ bring to the table?

Yup, CFB has a major problem on their hands with the NIL and easy transfers. The only way to fix NIL is to cast aside amateurism, be a paid league with shared revenue, and prioritize paying players over non-revenue college sports. Until then, this is going to get worse and asking fans to pay...

Gophers vs Wolverines - 247 Starter ratings

Yup. I'll excuse defensive staff exploits some grace for one game. The longer it continues past that though... nope.

Gophers vs Wolverines - 247 Starter ratings

Inexperience at defense was exploited in both losses. That's unfortunate but expected as well. I'm still a believer in Rossi.
