    Is AK dinged up?

I'm only guessing, but my sense is that Athan (and Morgan before him) is not running the read option -- they know who's getting the ball before the play starts. It seemed obvious that run in the second half was called for him. Iowa must have stolen our signals and was ready for it.

SI: 10 College Football Teams Running on a Wheel of MediocrityDo they need a coaching change or just a bit more patience?

It's not clear to me how these teams were picked for this group. They include us along with Indiana, Cal, Boston College, among others. In terms of "wheel of mediocrity," our wheels are on a much better car than theirs; we don't belong with them. Or are they saying these are programs who are...

Gophers vs. Iowa matches lowest O/U of all time (31.5)

But he MUST have someone on the tight ends at all times. Double-team the tight ends. Have Nubin spy a tight end on every play. (Sarcasm ... sort of.) The Iowa tight ends kill us every year, and they're the only players who catch passes for Iowa this year.

    Koi Perich Commits to Gophers!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure about this. I have no data to back this up, but I feel like we get a higher percentage of kids from outstate Minnesota that we want than those in the metro area. And I think it's because many outstate kids can come to the Twin Cities and feel like they're getting away from home and...

    Reason for hope next year?

I listened to the podcast, too, and when they talked about "developmental," they were basically saying "we expected a step back because we lost talent." We hope "developmental" means there are young and/or inexperienced players who are talented but still learning -- meaning they'll be better...

    NBC exposure

Sure, but aside from Note Dame home games, NBC really hasn't broadcast college football since then.

    QB pronunciation confirmation

I had high hopes for Athan, like many here. Maybe he'll get there. But, for 2023, the Gophers have a bad quarterback.

    Facility issue?

We also punted from the UNC 43 early in the fourth quarter. Inexcusable.

$125 per person. They're actively trying to keep rabble like my wife and me away from there.

    UNC Tickets Arrived

Section 100. I thought row 11 (two ones), but looking at other responses, it must be II (eye eye).

    Craig McDonald

I don't know ... I just saw on the ESPN crawl last night that the UNC receiver is going to miss game 1 as they wait to hear on him.

Post Game Thread: Gophers With AMAZING Comeback Win!!!

I'll say it's hard to be too critical of the defense. Holding any team to 10 points is never easy. They came up with big plays at big times. Someone is going to say, "Nebraska gained yards but we got lucky that they had interceptions and fumbles." But we get credit for making those big plays...

Who remembers Briean Boddy-Calhoun’s amazing play vs Nebraska? (video)

The receiver had stepped out of bounds on his own, came back into play and was the first player to touch the pass.

Gophers have 780 more non-student season ticket holders than 2022.

This isn't season tickets, but here's average attendance during the 1980s. The Dome opened in 1982 and caused a big jump initially (and the Gophers were ranked in the top 20 early that year before the bottom fell out), and Holtz kept it going for a couple years. By the end of the decade we were...

Gophers have 780 more non-student season ticket holders than 2022.

It's crazy to see the drop caused by the scholarship seating. We still haven't come close to making up for it. Interestingly, despite it being the first year of the increase and season tickets when way down, we averaged 52,355 per game in 2015, larger than the capacity today. The temporary...

I guess I'm in the minority -- I love Gus.

EDIT: Gold Out Sold Out! Nationally broadcast Thursday night opener vs Huskers with FOX's A-team in town will be a packed house

Nope. The student section is full for the Thursday night game every year, regardless of the opponent. Free tickets given to incoming freshman desperate to meet people. It's the rest of the season that's not as good, although the student section has been pretty great overall the past few years.

Would you be happy if we finished at 7-5 this year?

This is the league. Sorry. It won't get easier when the four Pac 12 teams join. Losing both to WI and IA will always make it disappointing, especially now that we've been ascending. Beyond that, it's time we start playing OSU and Michigan without thinking they're automatic losses.

    PAC 12 Dissolution

I thought I remembered the Gophers being higher on this list before, and it hurt my stomach to see us below Northwestern (if only by a few thousand). I was right -- but that was a year earlier in 2021. The link below is the same source but from a year earlier. Minnesota is 24th, averaging 1.28...
