Afer listening to this podcast and combined with what else I've heard about her, I think we need to treasure the years we'll have Kristen Kelsay at Minnesota. If she wants it, she's clearly destined to be a head coach, probably very soon.
I think you have to go back more than five years to make the case for declining batting averages. Time does fly! Here are the Gophers team batting averages for the past 10 years:

And if they finish this game off (4-0, with McNeese batting in the bottom of the 5th, bases loaded and one out), they get Louisiana, not LSU, in the super-regionals. They couldn't have asked for a better draw.
Who would have guessed that UCLA would lose two straight? Even after losing the first game, I bet most people thought they'd still come out of the regional. Wow!
How often does it happen that the four highest ranked big ten men's track and field teams are the four western-most schools: Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota? (Last year Ohio State was the conference champion, and those other four schools game in 2nd through 5th.)
Who would have thought there'd ever be a day when the Gophers would sweep Michigan in three games -- even during the last weekend of the regular season when RPIs don't move as much -- and their RPI would go down?
Gophers go into the 4th quarter with a six-point lead, and then Ohio State runs off 14 straight points before a time-out is called. Much too slow! Ouch!
