And Iowa's 2 selections are both punters, which is on brand for the Hawkeyes.

Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

Thought maybe the Gophers would show up on this list, based on pre-season AP polls since 2014: AP Poll voters’ Top 25 most underrated teams since 2014 1. BYU 2. Northwestern 3. Boise State 4. TCU 5. Iowa 6. Indiana 7. Cincinnati 8. Mississippi State 9. Arizona State 10. SMU 11. Louisiana 12...

    Recruiting

Kussow is still out there, which would be a big commitment for Coach P. Really hard to get a read on her recruitment, but Michigan got a commitment at her position, and Iowa seems all in on Jenica Lewis (perhaps moving on from Kussow?).

Wow. Home-state school is always a draw, but still pretty surprising.

GG and McKinney were both huge recruiting victories, but more of the evaluation variety. Both were under recruited, and both were much better from day 1 than their recruiting ranks.

The next 2-3 years are going to tell us a lot about how good a coach KBA is. She has 3 McDonald’s AA sophomores, and is continuing to recruit well. Now is the time for Michigan and KBA to produce.

4 of her 5 five finalists are teams/coaches (Louisville, Oklahoma, Nebraska & Marquette assistant now at Michigan) that offered her early in 2023, as the Gophers did as well. Was hoping the early Gopher offer would help. Coach P was still watching Bell live in July, so thought the Gophers were...

College Football Preseason Coaches Poll - Gophers Receive 11 Votes

67 coaches voting this season. Wish we could see the breakdown of who each coach voted for, like the AP poll. The Gophers had 1-11 coaches voting for them.

    STrib: The NCAA "House" settlement

Tomorrow is also the first day that schools can put rev-share offers to recruits in writing. I believe this applies to WBB, MBB etc. as well as football. Perhaps we will see some more movement with commits in August throughout the BIG, even before fall visits...

How do the Golden Gophers match up with the Hawkeyes?

Agree turnovers have been huge. But so has the kicking game, including the touchdowns scored by Iowa on short fields after long field goal misses by the Gophers. Consider 2019, 2021 and 2022. In each of these years Iowa is perfect in FG attempts, and the Gophers miss 1 FG per year, 2 of which...

ESPN: 100 days before the season top stories

Improvement behind the 3-pt line, on both sides of the ball, is the key to the season. Hoping Braun can be a big help here. Last year, the team was dramatically improved in 2-pt FG%, improving from 13th in league play (out of 14) to 5th in league play (out of 18). But the Gophers were still...

Stella Lockhart, 6'1" F/P ('26) from Holmdel, NJ also appears to have a Gopher offer. She is not in the ESPN top 100, but is ranked # 54 by 247 Sports, and #61 by ON3. She has visited Providence and intends to take officials to Wake Forest, Minnesota and Cal, and possibly North Carolina...

The Gophers need to get into the statue-erecting business too outside of Huntington Bank Stadium.

That's a lot of statues. 19 Gopher players are in the College Football Hall of Fame.

    Greenway in for McGill U-19

Injury to McGill? Anyone know the story? "USA Basketball announced . . . that Maddyn Greenway has been added to the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team roster. . . . Greenway, who will graduate from Providence Academy in 2026, will make her USA Basketball competitive debut. . . ...

    Minnesota 2025-2026

An interesting week: Kansas, USF, Harvard/Alabama. I'm guessing that Kansas will be the toughest of this group. Kansas returns their key people, and USF and Alabama do not. Kansas also has 2 top 30 or so freshman.

Michigan got a commitment yesterday from a ‘26 shooting guard, which perhaps is good news for Minnesota re Kussow. Duke still seems to be in play for Kussow, but Iowa and Kussow seem to have moved on from each other (but can’t tell side which side moved on).

U of M Total Operating Revenue by Sport for 2024 (football is 75%, other 18 sports are 25%)

The golf programs have operating revenue? $380k for the men, $245k for the women? What is that money for? Where does it come from? Some BTN all sports allocation?

    Different Vibe

I think you’re on to something. With Wisconsin in a tough spot, and Iowa fading (perhaps slowly) with an aging Ferentz, it’s time to pass by both of those programs. If I have my facts right, 1989 is the last time that Minnesota finished with a better conference record than both Wisconsin and Iowa.
