***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NORTH CAROLINA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Defense needs to stay on the field and get set immediately unless UNC subs or someone is hurt. It seems like they haven't been ready on a few different plays now.

***OFFICIAL NEBRASKA AT MINNESOTA SEASON OPENING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Way too many missed opportunities on offense. Defense is looking good and 10 points might be enough to win it but not sure we can get there. A defensive TD would really help.

***OFFICIAL NEBRASKA AT MINNESOTA SEASON OPENING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Biting on the trick play sucked but that offensive drive make things feel so much worse. Something needs to change.

***OFFICIAL NEBRASKA AT MINNESOTA SEASON OPENING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I like that we're passing more but we need to get more than 2 yards per run to win

Is the Thursday game a 'must win' for the Gophers?

Hard to call it a must win when we would still almost certainly win the west and have a shot at the playoff if we lose it but win the rest of our games. If we assume we'll lose to Michigan and Ohio State we'd likely need to win the other 7 to win the west so in that sense it's a must win, but...

    Bateman going off on twitter

By the time it's getting to players grading it as an F it's beyond taking care of it in-house. The team should be open to feedback from players and going out of their way to feedback to catch things when they slip to a C. If they already let them get this bad they can't really complain about how...

Most Underpaid Coaches in America (#2. PJ Fleck)

Football brings in about $75-100 million in revenue a year at the U and the head coach is comparable to a CEO of a company. From what I can find on Google, the average CEO of a company that size makes about $500k a year in total compensation. I know it's not apples to apples but by that...

First punishment for an NIL violation?

I wonder how long until courts will step in and force the NCAA to allow things like this. If NCAA athletes are employees, which is where it seems to be heading, going out for a meal as a part of the interview process isn't too abnormal. I'm not a fan of it but the lines drawn don't make a lot of...

College Football Executives Considering Four Changes to Shorten Games

Games haven't been averaging 3 hours in many years, it's closer to 3.5 and increasing almost every year. Considering attendance has declined for 7 straight years (not counting 2020) and is at a 40 year low, and the past 2 CFP championships have been the least watched, there are a lot of people...

Spring Game Set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Huntington Bank Stadium

Hopefully it actually happens as planned this year. In the past 6 years since Fleck took over there has only been 1 "normal" spring game with fans allowed and no capacity limits.

    Morgan Drafted! To the USFL

Not sure about the USFL but the NFL has criteria to be eligible for the draft and teams can't draft players who are ineligible.

College Football Executives Considering Four Changes to Shorten Games

TV timeouts are by far the biggest thing slowing down the game and any other proposal is a distraction from the real issue. I get why those won't go away but shaving off a few minutes here and there while leaving the thing that wastes an hour of the game doesn't solve the problem.

Change the kickoff rules to this?

I guess that's better than the nearly automatic touchback they have now but I wish they'd just go back to kicking off from the 30 and touchbacks going to the 20 like it used to be. This doesn't look as exciting as a normal kickoff.

    NCAA Signing Cap—Colorado

Unless transfers become more restricted again I think this is going to be the way things go. There's minimal loyalty from anyone and most loyalty is to the coach rather than the school. If the players can and do decide they want to leave their current school and go somewhere else without sitting...

    QB Recruiting Under Fleck

Good write up. Duggan is the biggest what-if by far, we could have potentially had 3 straight 10+ or maybe even 11+ win seasons (only counting full seasons) with him here. At the same time, we could have just as easily started him before he was ready in 2019, had a much less impressive season...

Tanner on Mo: "I don't think anybody should ever wear the number 24 ever again at this university for what he's meant to the culture, to the team.''

In the 2080s some Gopher fans won't care about Mo and will think it's wrong to compare the star at the time to him. There's a good chance there will be 20 games a season and more safety rules that shift the game in favor of the offense so someone else will eventually break all of Mo's records...

Chip: The Big Ten should put an end to bowl arrangements held in baseball stadiums because field conditions deteriorate and threaten player safety.

There are 32% more non-contact knee injuries and 69% more non-contact foot and ankle injuries on turf than grass in the NFL. Turf might be more consistent and better in extreme weather but grass is safer.

Tanner on Mo: "I don't think anybody should ever wear the number 24 ever again at this university for what he's meant to the culture, to the team.''

2 of those 4 are unlikely to be drafted and Johnson went 161st overall. 278 Gophers have been drafted and 152 of them before Johnson. Some of that, especially for Mo, is their style of play not matching with the current style NFL teams are looking for but the majority of those 152 are on the...

Tanner on Mo: "I don't think anybody should ever wear the number 24 ever again at this university for what he's meant to the culture, to the team.''

There are 103 players currently on the roster and a handful of shared numbers already. Even if you were to double up every available number you still would need about 60 numbers which means you can only retire 40. With the 140 year history of the Gophers, that's one every 3.5 years without even...

Another dirty play by Syracuse. That looked intentional.
