I'm talking about at the time the contract is written and signed. It could be that no TV partner would allow such a stipulation to be included into a game contract. Although we know that's not true because I believe there is one for the Michigan Ohio State game, for example, but maybe they...

I don't see why it can't be written into the contract

    Non-Conference Scheduling

If they scheduled Akron instead of NW State, it would have better prepared them for Cal!

2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

Honest question: is Cal a better job than UCLA? How can a school like Cal get a 5 star QB?? Maybe they won't hang onto him ... but they got him. Someone else point out too: lot of former NFL or P4 head coaches on that staff. I didn't Cal football was every anything historically?

The other school you're negotiating/discussing with about a potentially non-conference home and home matchup.

Sure, these are great points. At schools like Roseville, Hopkins, Burnsville .... schools that are still large but have a lot of non-football playing minorities, it makes a lot of sense.

Humans of roughly equal skill can't cover indefinitely. If you give an accurate QB 8sec to find someone (finally) coming open ... he will, every time

There is absolutely no way to spin the 3 man rushes. It's inexcusable to keep doing it when it didn't work all game. Other than that specifically, I agree that the defense played well enough for us to win it in spite of the disadvantages they were put in.

I understand that. And I understand that this game was probably scheduled before the Big Ten expanded with western teams. (True?) That said ... non-conference game ... tell them we won't sign unless we get to dictate the game time. If they refuse, then no deal!

I heard they got a new QB? And a new OC? Are those important? You tell me

Bolded: This! Surprised I haven't seen any further comments about this. Probably because it's considered a weak excuse ... not that it's not. But the great point is made: why play a night game out West?? If you're going to schedule it, dictate that it has to be a mid-day game or we won't sign...

I absolutely believe that Fleck can overrule his offensive coordinator to call a more conservative play. I believe all day that he has done that quite a number of times here

    Koi Perich ...

Agree with those saying that he's trying to do too much. You can call that buying into your own hype, to some degree, sure. But it's also just a mistake, whatever the motivation. All you can do, all you should be doing, is playing your role within the prescribed play call. You aren't more...

I just feel "bad" for Wisconsin fans who traveled down for this. Some crappy cheap flight to Atlanta. Wait an hour+ for a rental car. Drive 3hrs to Tuscaloosa. Sit in southern, midday heat in an open air stadium, sweating your balls off ... just to watch your team get pisspounded

Lost a lot of seniors last year, I agree means lost a lot of senior starters from 24 team, sure. Then you have the class one year underneath them, who get to start as senior this year. Where are all they?

So again, I can buy this ... but what ever happened to waiting for your time? If you can't be a starter by the time you're a junior ... you just quit the sport?

I can believe it. Just wonder what happened with the class of 26 (seniors this year) ... did they quit football early because the class ahead of them was so dominate? Would be an interesting case study

Doesn't that logic apply to every 6A school, though? Again, any of these ... 400, 500, 600, or more kids per class ... boggles my mind that the cupboard could be bare in a year. On the other hand, I don't really know what I'm talking about
