In a typical year that's probably true. So far this year the UMAC is 3-0 against the WIAC. Whitewater, Oshkosh and Platteville are all going to be really good but the ARC might be a little deeper league.

You play in the division you want, everyone playing by the same rules. Enrollment is just not even close to the biggest factor in wins and losses in college sports. This isn't high school.

Eau Claire barely snuck by Concordia before getting stomped by 1,300 enrollment Coe this year. Stevens Point was lucky to put up 7 points against 1,500 enrollment Albion. Those are absolutely peers in college sports.

I think the best way is just to go open class for the real state champ and 3 smaller classes for schools under 1000, maybe it would incentivize teams to play up where they belong. Make every team pick their class every 2 years.

You could do similar things at the Barn but you're going to need to expand the student section to 5000 and put somebody in charge who will ignore a thousand complaints from everybody else. Also, you're going to have to get back to at least .500 ball.

No chance for the Johnnies or Scots, Carleton wouldn't be on the bubble either if they lose in the MIAC playoffs. They just don't have the strength of schedule. It's going to be a real battle these last two weeks in the MIAC and UMAC for the last conference playoff spots.
