Quincy Avery: Drake Lindsey is so much better than anyone understands. I truly and honestly believe he's gonna be a Rd1 pick when it's all said & done

I tend to worry less about Lindsey than I do the WR group. I could easily be missing things and the portal guys should be good, but there's not a ton of experienced depth beyond the first unit. Hope it all comes together because the raw talent is probably there both at QB and WR.

Again, only saw the first half and both defenses looked aggressive. So many unforced errors by the offenses that maybe that is what made them look so good.

And sings in a Led Zeppelin tribute band as Robert Plant in the off-season. I only watched the first half and it was pretty ragged.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

To a point above that you have done a good job disputing. Is advance scounting now against the rules? I'm an old man and back in the day, our basketball coach would send another teacher to our next opponent to scout them. We knew what was going to happen when the opposing point guard shouted...

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

Brosmer's long arm is better than I remember it with the Gophers. Of course, I can't remember the Gophers sending WRs on fly patterns very often either.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

I couldn't figure out why he was drafted. He put up pretty good numbers at Florida, but it was a lot dink 'em passes in a fairly QB friendly system, but he is pretty limited.

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

Hard to get a read when it's 3rd-stringers v. 3rd-stringers, but he looks decisive and while his arm isn't a cannon, he can get the ball there. His macro-accuracy (putting the ball in the vicinity of the receiver) is excellent. His micro-accuracy of putting it where the receiver can do the...

All Things Class of 2026 Minnesota Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

It probably won't apply to the top-tier guys, but I can see guys a bit down the list wanting to go to a program where they will see significant playing time as a freshman in hopes of either garnering a big-time NIL deal or impressing pro scouts. To one of your main points, if you can get them...

    Michigan gets its “penalty”

I want to see the parking lot at NCAA HQ. It's their version of NIL. As for the penalty, I had a couple of friends who attended Catholic school in the 1950s and 1960s and they told me the nuns could be pretty rough on the knuckles with the ruler. Looks like the NCAA rapped Michigan's knuckles...

    Old Gophers Recruiting Video

I remember the Gophers squeaking out a 19-17 win during the 1981 season. Gophers were stinking up the place and they would have lost if an Ohio U running back hadn't dropped an easy pass in the flat that would have resulted in a first down. It's the same year the Gophers beat Ohio State...

Memorial wasn't a terrible stadium. It was old, but the sight lines were good. I don't know if it could have been updated, but the move to the Metrodome, while not a complete disaster, didn't contribute to the program the way a lot of bigwigs (or maybe I should use Sid's term "brain wizards"...

    Old Gophers Recruiting Video

I think that was up in the Grandstand before they moved down to the main drag. I remember the room and I remember to having a great conversation with baseball coach John Anderson. I don't remember a lot of team gear being available in the 1980s, but the poster above is right. If there was...

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

I don't follow the game as much as I used to, but I browsed the box scores for the opening weekend of the NFL pre-season and there a ton of QBs trying to hang on for one more round so there will be a ton of movement at the last cutdown. I don't know if that helps or hurts Brosmer. Given...

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

I wondered about his arm strength, but he showed as last season went on that he has at least an average arm. He's not going to become Aaron Rodgers, but the raps on Rodgers as he came into the league were his arm strength and Jeff Tedford's tutelage. I think arm strength can increase in the...

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

Same with Mike Max though not as egregious. They frame their questions with their preferred answer. Too often their opening line to the interview subject is something on the line of "It must have felt great when you did that" which is a statement and not a question. A good interviewer would...

What happened to the concept of a Non-Qualifier?

Bottom line for me is I don't think the NCAA cares about this as much as it used to. I agree with many here that academic risk doesn't seem to hit the recruiting news the way it used to. I'm pretty sure recruits haven't gotten smarter, but maybe high schools find ways to help them academically...
