All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

Yeah fair points, although fan/media perceptions of coaches do weigh into hiring decisions. If I were USC, I’d still want to see how this year goes before pulling the trigger on Fleck (especially because he is so polarizing) but we’ll see. Row the Boat, Fight On, Go Trojans (🤢).

All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

Is USC looking to make a hire before the end of this season? I can’t imagine they’d hire Fleck unless we have a 2019-esque season this year. If we don’t, then I think Fleck’s stock will drop considerably because we almost certainly will be worse next year. Crucial year for the program in a lot...

I found it fun to relive where we were in 2018

I believe we were all singing the praises of Robb Smith after this game.

    Other RB's

The way Wright, Jackson, and Spann-Ford played, I’m confident that once we get CAB back our passing game will be good enough to help set up the run. I’m intrigued by Thomas, who seems to be the closest to Mo in style. Going to have to spread the wealth regardless.

    OSU Postgame Thread

    - I thought offensive staff did a good job for the majority of the night with game plan. Using 6-7 o lineman will overwhelm teams (although I’m not sure it fits any RBs style except Mo). - Special Teams improved immensely. Kudos to Fleck for landing Trickett and making us look competent. -...

***OFFICIAL OHIO STATE AT MINNESOTA SEASON OPENING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

A few of their huge plays were because they are more talented, which is excusable. But not getting lined up caused two of the TDs. Wtf Rossi

No more wildcat please god. Have to try and make them pay for single coverage

***OFFICIAL OHIO STATE AT MINNESOTA SEASON OPENING IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I can accept they have way more talent, but it looks like we’re struggling to get lined up half the time (which was a huge problem at the beginning of last year).

At least w Green we had the chance to throw. Get rid of the wildcat please.

What is your single biggest concern for this season?

    1. Safety Play - Struggled mightily at this position last year and have little depth behind it. Talent and depth at CB is also a concern. 2. Tanner Morgan - I think Tanner’s 2019 season was more a consequence of Johnson/Bateman/CAB than Tanner’s skill and I’m concerned Fleck is too loyal (or...

How Long (or Short) is Tanner Morgan’s Leash in 2021 (if Morgan doesn’t take a step forward in big way, I can’t imagine Fleck waits long to change)

I’m in agreement with those who say Fleck is too stubborn to pull Tanner, but I really think this offense would take the next step with a QB who was a threat to pull the ball and run on our zone read plays.

    Rodney Smith's 50 Yard Challenge

This is cool, but that’s not the Rodney Smith who played for the Gophs. Totally different person.

Media Prediction Thread: Ohio State at Minnesota

I’m less optimistic about this game just because they have two first-round WRs and I think DB is the weakest part of our team. Hopefully their new QB has some jitters.

Watched the first few minutes of his highlight tape and he didn’t catch any passes. All blocking and defense.

    WCCO Football Story

Surprised that WCCO decided to run it as there is such little substance, and nothing that sets Fleck / the U apart. I don’t know how much of a difference it makes, but there is a zero percent chance Madison, Lincoln or IC media would ever run a story like this. It’s like they actively want a...

***OFFICIAL GOLD VS MAROON MINNESOTA GOPHERS SPRING GAME IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Content with Tanner as QB1, but I think this offense becomes a lot more dangerous with a QB who pulls and runs from time to time like Zach (and Athan). Otherwise happy with the D-line and LB play. I think we’ll be a lot better there this year. Please god get us the new kickers ASAP.

Cashius McNeilly & Emanuel Miller (Texas A&M) both in the portal

Pretty discouraging news on what has been a tumultuous start to an underwhelming hire. Obviously too early to panic, but it’s concerning that Coach Johnson hasn’t filled his staff—let alone his roster—over a month into the job. It points to a lack of a coherent plan, which was my major concern...

To recap, the following 7 Gophers have put their name in the Transfer Portal

We’ll see who actually ends up transferring, but it’s a concerning start for Coach. I also think his first two years are particularly crucial given his lack of experience and need to sell recruits on a vision, so he needs to hire a staff and solidify things ASAP.
