What grade sound you give Drake Lindsey for his first career start?

The fact that Drake looked as comfortable as he did considering how young he is, is a great sign. He has a ton of developing left to do, and he will definitely make mistakes this year. But there is a lot there to be excited about as Gophers fans. He has a chance to be a special player for us.

Geers interception play in front of sudeline judge?

The play that led to the INT was weird.....but I can't stand the whole "refs are out to get us" line of thinking so many fans love to go to. Calls get made and calls get missed in every game but I truly believe the refs are out there doing the best they can and not playing favorites.

What grade would you give the Gophers

Would still rather see a WR in that spot then the QB. I'm sure the main reason teams do it is to keep the D guessing based on personnel but it rarely seems to fool anyone and it just comes down to whether or not the RB can get the yards or not while the QB stands around near the sidelline not...

    Week 1 Other Games Thread

Not a super impressive start for the Big Ten last night. Of the 4 that played (Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Rutgers), we probably came out looking the best but nobody was overly impressive. Minnesota - We kept what looks like a decent Buffalo team at arms length and redshirt freshman QB...

What grade would you give the Gophers

I agree on any wildcat look where the QB remains on the field split out as a receiver.....never been a fan of that look. I'm sure there is an option with it that gets the QB involved but teams never do it and it just ends up being a dead player on the outside.

What grade would you give the Gophers

Feels like a B/B- type of game to me. Not nearly as close as the score indicated but lots to work on as well. First games can be messy so good to get this one out of the way against what will most likely end up being a solid opponent.

Who is your Gophers MVP in the win over Buffalo?

Not sure why Anthony Smith and Geers didn't even make the list but regardless I'm giving the nod to the freshman QB who didn't play like a freshman making his first start. DT gets honorable mention with Anthony Smith.

Describe the Gophers win over Buffalo in 1 sentence

First games are always weird, but there was more good than bad and Drake has a chance to be special.

What grade sound you give Drake Lindsey for his first career start?

I went B. For a redshirt freshman getting his first real taste of action he played very well. Tons of room for growth and improvement which is really exciting. Didn't play like a freshman and has a chance to be special as he develops and gets more experience.

Post Game Thread: Gophers 1-0 After 23-10 Win Over Buffalo

1st games are weird, didn't get to see the first half but watching the recording, the game was very close to being a route had things broken a little different. D looks really good and D-Line could be a ton of fun to watch. Drake has a chance to be special. He didn't look like a redshirt...

Who will have a better season as a Year 1 MN QB1? Lindsey or McCarthy?

Interesting question. I would give nod to JJ because of the other JJ and additional weapons he has to work with in a very QB friendly pass first system.

What if NIL/Portal existed when Fleck came to MN?

It is an interesting question. Fleck coming here was near the backed of the old way of building programs without the benefit of the transfer portal explosion and pay for play money. I don't think it would have changed a ton other than maybe made it possible get a competant QB ready to play...

***OFFICIAL BUFFALO AT MINNESOTA 2025 SEASON OPENER, FLECK YEAR 9 IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Plenty of question marks for sure.....every team deals with that in college football.....they don't become concerns until after the first few games though if the performance is lacking. :)

    Nebraska

Yeah.....their schedule definitely looks manageable on paper but predicting 10-2 for a team that hasn't come close to a record like that in a long time is very optimistic. It does happen though, 2019 for us and last year for Indiana are two examples of really good seasons that came out of...

***OFFICIAL BUFFALO AT MINNESOTA 2025 SEASON OPENER, FLECK YEAR 9 IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I think he will let Drake do as much as he thinks he can handle. But I would expect them to let him pass because he needs the reps against an actual opponent that will be coming after him and trying to hit him.

247's 2025 CFB Team Talent Composite Rankings - Gophers ranked #41

Would be interesting to see what these ratings would look like if they replaced recruit rankings with transfer rankings for all the guys that have transferred (which at this point would be a lot of them). That would be a slightly better way of judging overall roster talent since it would...

GH's Noel Thompson: Predicting the Gophers 2025 Season.

We could certainly lose to Iowa but every matchup in Iowa City under Fleck has been a nail biter decided by just a couple of points. So a 2 TD loss would be a pretty big surprise. Will be interesting to see how all these teams look as the games get underway.

Daniel Jackson released by the Texans

Bummer but hopefully he can find a fit somewhere else. NFL is a tough business. Jackson is a really solid receiver but he lacks great size or gamebreaking speed so it is going to be a battle for him to stay in the league.

Shedeur Sanders’ Slide in NFL Draft Cost Him $44 Million

Yeah in the NFL you have to be able to throw. You get guys like Jackson and Daniels who can really be threats on the ground or guys like Hurts and Allen who are essentially goal line backs when their team gets down there......but for the most part running QBs just don't last long in the NFL.

Shedeur Sanders’ Slide in NFL Draft Cost Him $44 Million

What you mention here may certainly be an issue for some people but the NFL will overlook all of that if they think a kid can play. Now you combine a bad attitude with some ability but not top flight talent and you get a 5th round draft pick
