MN/wi Longest Continuously Played Series in Major College Football Streak to Likely Be Broken

Could Big Ten schools fill their schedule with another Big Ten school that has an open date?

MN/wi Longest Continuously Played Series in Major College Football Streak to Likely Be Broken

Agree - it's the academic year that matters. We don't count the Outback Bowl against Auburn for this year, after all, despite being played January 1st, 2020. Play a game vs. Wisconsin for the Axe in the Spring, even if it's an exhibition game, it's still a game.

Reading between lines, expect fans to be present?

If you look at a map of where cases are going up, the Big Ten may be in the best position of any Power 5 conference to have football. If we do, it will be either with limited fans or no fans. The Big Ten championship game might be a de facto national championship game.

Greder: U displaying its 2019 BT West trophy in the Larson Football Performance Center.

    Probably the same way I'd react to Penn State's 2011 co-championship, or Ohio State's in 2015 and 2016 or Michigan's in 2018.

Reading between lines, expect fans to be present?

USA Today: Playing college football in the spring might sound easy but plenty of hurdles and questions exist That's unworkable for northern teams. The Gophers could play at US Bank Stadium, but playing indoors is not an option for other teams. If the season were moved to the spring, April would...

Which endzone has had more touchdowns at TCF?

I just looked at the box scores, and it appears it didn't indicate which direction they were going. I suppose it wouldn't take too long to watch the scoring highlights of all the home games since 2009.

Cove: How a Big Ten-Only Football Schedule Would Affect the Gophers

US Bank Stadium would be available if we really needed it. If you're not having fans in attendance, it would seem you could play games at indoor practice facilities.

Which endzone has had more touchdowns at TCF?

I would guess the student end zone is a little more difficult for the opposing team. It would take some digging - do box scores show which end zone they were going towards?

Drew Cove: Will St. Thomas' jump to D1 have any impact on the Gophers?

I don't think it will have a measurable impact on fan allegiance. I do think it will be a positive for the U by having a local "rival" that can be brought in cheaply. A game against Saint Thomas probably would be a better draw then a game against #305 Cleveland State.

All Things COVID-19 College Football Impact

ESPN - A spring 2021 college football season? What a coronavirus-impacted schedule might look like I could see the football season being pushed off to the spring, at least in the South. The Big Ten states are doing much better that the southern states - Florida is having more than 10,000 cases...

NCAA Ruling Allows D-III St. Thomas to Make Unprecedented Leap to D-I

I think this will be good for the U. It will let them bring in a D-I opponent for non-conference games and we can pay them less because there won't be travel expenses. I think a basketball game vs Saint Thomas might be more interesting than a game against a non-conference opponent that we've...

All Things COVID-19 College Football Impact

I think it's going to be a very strange season. I could see football being played in the north, but cancelled in the south. Florida is at around 10,000 cases a day and trending up. Georgia is at over 3,000 cases a day. The Big Ten states are doing much better, so with reasonable precautions we...

All Things COVID-19 College Football Impact

Get rid of the security theater at the gates. It doesn't really do anything, and it slows down people getting through the lines. The less time people a standing in line, the better. In the seats, you're near a relatively small number of people, but in the lines, you pass by a lot. Also open the...

ESPN: Grand Valley State suspends OC Morris Berger for wanting meal with Adolf Hitler

Praising someone's leadership implies that their is at least some aspects of that person to emulate.

ESPN: Grand Valley State suspends OC Morris Berger for wanting meal with Adolf Hitler

Hitler's rise to power ought to be a cautionary tale, not someone to emulate.

ESPN: Grand Valley State suspends OC Morris Berger for wanting meal with Adolf Hitler

You laid out a faulty premise. In the past, sure, people would discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Hitler's leadership abilities, if they were talking about the history of the Third Reich. It would be much more difficult to find people praising Hitler's out of the blue, let alone listing...

ESPN: Grand Valley State suspends OC Morris Berger for wanting meal with Adolf Hitler

In the past, the headline in the local paper would have read "Football coach praises Hitler's leadership." Immediately followed by angry WWII veterans showing up at the Dean's office.

ESPN: Grand Valley State suspends OC Morris Berger for wanting meal with Adolf Hitler

There are uncountably many other examples of leadership that he could have come up with. If someone thinks leadership and Hitler is what comes to mind, there's something seriously wrong with that person.
