RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Cutting the actual amateur sports. This what it has come to. Getting rid of athletics that give a bunch of kids chances at attending college. All to make room for second rate professional sports.

    BYU QB Reportedly Transferring

Let BYU do their thing, it’s their religion. I’m not Mormon but the reaction here is embarrassing. But it is Gopherhole….so you can expect it.

Who else will buy the new NCAA Football game?

I love turn based strategy games too.

All things Players Coming and Going.

You should have said "your denial sandwich, with a side of mediocrity." You kind of started a restaurant metaphor and then just stopped. I know it is nitpicking, but if you are going to be the mean, depressive guy on this board about the hockey program, you gotta really stick the landings, if...

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

One thing that stands out to me about that highlight reel is that Carter made one handed catches when he HAD to. There is an epidemic these days of WR's trying to make one handed catches when they could use two hands, but one handers make highlights.

ANNUAL GOPHERHOLE PICTORIAL COUNTDOWN TO GOPHERS SEASON OPENER!!

I wish I could watch that highlight but somehow not see those uniforms. Our first game at the new home too.......

72 or 76 team NCAA tournament.....NCAA determined to ruin one of the best things in sports.

One more reason to watch a little less college basketball every year. Between watering down what was the best postseason in college or professional sports and complete roster turnover, it's just not very interesting anymore.

2027 QB Furian Inferrera has Flipped his Commitment from Boston College to Minnesota!

Man I gotta say you were getting pretty smoked in this argument, but turned it all around with a Schreck gif. Clutch.

5 star tackle commits to TTU for 5mil over 3 years

I hate the new NIL world but to ask what happens if he gets hurt? Well he’s gonna have money he wouldn’t have had to fall back on. I am not sure how the “MN model” would benefit him in that scenario?

Wow an end of an era on #Gophers campus as Annie’s Parlour closed after more than 50 years! Who has great memories going there while in Dinkytown?

The trendy ones do. There is a whole industry around it. Create a buzz, full seats, new offerings and sell while the name is hot. Annie’s is obviously different than those but the restaurant business is a tough one nonetheless. . Even ones that are full are usually on the edge of profitability...

Wow an end of an era on #Gophers campus as Annie’s Parlour closed after more than 50 years! Who has great memories going there while in Dinkytown?

In classic GH fashion we have one poster who believes it was the pandemic shutdown that closed it and another that thinks it was because of a police state takeover. Just ignore them. It is probably because the restaurant business is a super tough one. They say the only way to make money in the...

    10-2 - tell me I’m wrong

I agree. This team will be really good in 2026. 7 wins this year.

Scoggins: Mark Coyle could frustrate some Gophers coaches with revenue-sharing plan

Well if you can honestly tell me my tax dollars don't subsidize the U, then I will reluctantly believe you.

    BYU QB Reportedly Transferring

I don't go on the OT board to avoid that stuff. You are right, I probably took it a little too personal, but saying that a completely different religion than the one in specific to this thread values donations over morality, seems a little odd. A silly statement to begin with, but also a stretch...

Scoggins: Mark Coyle could frustrate some Gophers coaches with revenue-sharing plan

Since most athletic programs don't make money or only occasionally make money, it is semantics because the U does use taxpayer funds. You can say that my money goes into the right pocket of the pants and the left pocket is used for athletic scholarships. But it is simply creative accounting.

All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

I have heard anecdotally that Sid Hartman lost everything in Madoff's scheme. Not sure if that is true though..

Scoggins: Mark Coyle could frustrate some Gophers coaches with revenue-sharing plan

Yeah me neither, but the discussion is whether you should be paying for the education of those already making well into the 6 figures. Scholarships used to be for those who couldn't afford a college education. No problem paying for that.
