***OFFICIAL BUFFALO AT MINNESOTA 2025 SEASON OPENER, FLECK YEAR 9 IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Frustrating game. Defense has been mostly lights out. Better than I expected them to be at this point and special teams have been good. Offense has moved the ball all right but struggling to finish. Drake has looked pretty good for most of the game but not so much in the last few minutes.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

I see that Mike Hohensee started two years for the Gophers but threw 19 interceptions in 11 games in his second year. Can you imagine a QB getting the opportunity to throw 19 interceptions on a Fleck team? Adam Weber equaled that number in 12 games during the legendary 1-11 season.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

How could 32 teams have possibly missed on Max Brosmer? “It’s actually a great question,” the scout texted. Simple: 1) They all consult the same scouting services and 2) human nature: most people are naturally risk averse and don't want to be the only person who takes a leap of faith on an...

Quincy Avery: Drake Lindsey is so much better than anyone understands. I truly and honestly believe he's gonna be a Rd1 pick when it's all said & done

Yes, for example, Aaron Rodgers who began at a JUCO due to lack of good offers from high school. Rodgers' handicap seemed to be his relatively small stature in high school. We have to remember that Lindsey verbally committed to the Gophers pretty early (May of his junior year) so that might...

Media Prediction Thread: Buffalo at Minnesota

Yes, I would be surprised if Buffalo scores three touchdowns but I might be even more surprised if the Gophers score 37 as CFN predicts. We know from past history that, unless the opponent is pretty weak (like New Mexico State a couple of times), Fleck plays the opening game pretty...

The 2025 Gophers football season will be a sucsss if?…

Most publications aren't all that high on the Gophers (same as it ever was as the Talking Heads once said) but one publication said that anything less than 8 wins will be a disappointment. So, I feel similar to you. 8 regular season wins will be good enough. 9 regular season wins will be...

Cal names True Freshman as Starting QB.

Well, look at the bright side. He didn't tie up a scholarship for very long.

    2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

Yes, the bowl assignments have been underwhelming which is why one can't blame the publications for predicting Minnesota to go to one of those. If the team can get to 9 or more regular season wins the placement probably would be higher but I'm not seeing the publications predicting an outcome...

Nebraska Football Opponent Preview: Friday Night Challenge in Minnesota

Multiple errors in this article 1) However, the Huskers haven’t beaten Minnesota since 2020. The Gophers won the 2020 game. The last time the Huskers won was 2018 (beat the Gophers pretty badly as the team's defense couldn't seem to stop anyone until they fired the defensive coordinator). 2)...

Shooter: Add the Phoenix Suns to the Detroit Pistons as potential teams for Johnson’s next employment.

Can we move on from "wingspan?" Thank you! Jokes actually have expiration dates and that one's expiration had to be at least a year ago.

Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

Who was ranting? I was reporting what I read about Illinois' returning players. It's pretty logical why they are rated more highly than us in August. And, yes, I'm fully aware that the rankings in December won't match the rankings in August.

Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

Yes, #10 in 2019. An argument could be made that we should have been ranked in the top 25 in 2021. Had we not had that excruciating loss to Bowling Green we could have finished 10-3 and probably would have been (although with a 9-3 regular season record we likely would have had a tougher bowl...

Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

I think (according to ESPN) that Illinois leads the Big Ten in productive players returning (something like 75% overall). That coupled with the fact that they won 10 games last season is why expectations are high.

Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

You would think that you would be used to this by now. I would rather be like Minnesota than like Nebraska or Maryland, teams who are ranked prematurely some years but fail miserably to reach that status. At least on those rare occasions where we are ranked, we earned it by our play to that...

Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

They received some votes (11) in the Coaches Poll posted on ESPN.

I'm also pleased that Max's fine performance was coupled with Mertz's bad one on the other side. Max wasn't drafted but Mertz was. Go figure. My only disappointment is that I didn't get to see Daniel Jackson play for Houston.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers 2025 rushing yard leader will be...

Unless we start the season like last year where the running game wasn't very productive, I don't expect to see us throw as often as last season. Last season, the team averaged 31.7 passing attempts per game and 31.1 rushing attempts per game. The previous highs for passing attempts per game...

Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey shows off big arm in practices - Pioneer Press

Agreed. Leidner had a pretty big arm but Max did not and he was less reliable when he tried to throw long. Clearly most of us who watched them both would prefer Max. Also, we haven't had much in the way of deep threats since the top 2 wideouts from 2019 left.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

Coaches are hired to be later fired. Most of them also bounce around a lot earlier in their careers. Doctors can start practicing young and continue practicing after normal retirement age. The coaches who actually make the money are evaluated on their records and that isn't completely in their...
