Again I think most teams, schools, coaches, family members don't care as much about the travel as they do the dates. 4 hour drives on Thursdays aren't the chore they are on Fridays.
Some of it could have been solved by not setting dates at sites months in advance but telling host schools that...
I think of it from the host schools perspective also. Think if we have a week of wet weather leading up to a state tournament game your school is hosting. Now your playing surface has been basically ruined going into freeze up because of a game being played in the mud.
Ill fully admit I was unaware of any games being played on Saturdays. I have coached in a game Thursday and boarded a bus at 8AM to play a game at 6PM a few years back. I will also be coaching in this years state tournament and if we win I will Definitly not be attending another game until I...
Yes it is. Totally get that we need to accommodate for that reason. I also have my suspicions about how much truth there is to it because of how few games and the different number of Thursday games each week
Week 1 is strange with teams opting to play Thursday so its about a 50/50 split
Week 2...
Not in the area I am from. Any out state games played on Thursdays result in school out early for football players, and tired kids at school Friday. Not to mention in small schools having to get volleyball players out early so visiting team can have a locker room. I get a lot of people have no...
Might be valid reasons if
Class A, Class 3A teams play Thursday, then all games in class following Saturday...
3 games scheduled for Thursday 11-14 at US Bank - 14 Games scheduled 11-7
(28 of the remaining 56 team play Thursday)
Only 3 games scheduled at same venue for Thursday 11-7 and...
IMHO its more that we are playing games on Thursday than the distance traveled. A game on a Friday evening and long travel fine, a game on Thursday and long travel, now were are messing with 2 days of school and work...
Why dpses MN love non Friday night games??? Its like MSHSL takes some...
Sure, but the MSHSL are making sure that these schools don't have much for a crowd. Look at some of these Thursday games... Thursday night at Rock Ridge in Virginia. Parkers Prairie and Upsala Swanville, 2 schools that were in the same conference just a few years back and are omly 40 miles...
MSHSL with another great showing of not caring about MN 'STUDENT" athletes...
Why are any of these games played on Thursday, and try not make it about revenue. Many teams are going to travel 2+ hours on a Thursday night and have school in the morning. If it wasn't just about the almighty...
With each class being seeded now at the state tournament, Do we know where the lines are for North and South?
Is it set by sections, for example 1,2,3,4 are north and 5,6,7,8 in the South?
Those are just numbers to show what I was meaning.
That winter we were hit in the central part of the state with 24-27" in early march. I know because my parents just closed on a small lake cabin last week of February and we had 2 Morton buildings collapse under the wet spring snow. Bad timing for a family that just took on an extra payment. My...
Sorry about the technicality... Why do you care so much? Some teams get to play inside, some don't... US Bank isn't opening its doors for such a small event as a section championship... 20 years ago the field conditions weren't the same as they are now. I assume that Moorhead and other schools...
NDSU has been great to MN high schools. Several coaching clinics hosted there yearly. I am sure that they love having the building used... Not to mention its a great experience for the kids. Been apart of several team goal setting meetings and every year the most said goal for players is to...
This is a great example of why we should have state wide playoff system similar to that of Class 6A
A regional representative at the state tournament is not truly getting the best teams in a place to showcase that MN football is better than what the country feels it is.
Of course you would...
Hard to count some of these 3 over 2 games as a true upsets or use them in a case study to show why we need all teams in the playoffs because there we "x" number of upsets All class 1A #3 over #2 games were a coin flip earlier in the year
Class A
Section 1
#3 Fillmore Central (7-1)------46
#2...
IMHO its hard to get a good feel for who should be seeded where when a team plays 0 section games...
Not sure how MSHL lets this happen in the lower classes so often. Not to mention in class A There should have been WAY more 7 team sections and 0, 6 team sections...
Major advantage not...
You do have to win the game.
Its easier to win home game for a home team who is 5-3 who is taking on a team who is 6-2 that has to get on a school buss at 10:30 and ride 2 hours to play a road playoff game
