All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

I mean... none of us wanted him on the field after SJSU so can't really blame him.

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

The thing that kills me is his complaining about referees. Like, look, if they made a bad call, acknowledge it I guess for those of us out walking their dogs that can’t see for themselves. But does it really require 15 minutes of ranting? Dude knows more about the penalty stats of the referees...

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

I mean he looks great, but he is still the third best QB on the team right now. Sam Howell looked very good too.

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

I see Graham Mertz has not changed since Wisconsin.

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

That was a very unfortunate series. Center gets injured, new center comes in, immediately fumbles snap to start next drive, Max tries to get to the ball and gets blocked by his own pulling guard, and the running back, who got there first, decides to try to pick the ball up instead of just...

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

The two I remember were both pressure throws though so as long as they aren't getting intercepted, I think that's okay.

Hahah I know they are loved, but I cannot stand the Vikings radio crew.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

This is the best NFL performance we've ever seen from a Gopher QB. Which is sad to say, but we're getting closer.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

The NCAA mandates it, but they don't make those reports publicly accessible. Technically, you could force every public university to disclose them by requesting them, and there's a foundation that does that (https://knightnewhousedata.org/), but I have not found a way to split out men's /...

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Added a chart of where the Gophers Athletic budget comes from and goes to and how that breaks out by sport. The punchline is that a) They were doing a very good job of managing things before this new $20M expense came into play, and b) Gopher Football is what creates money for the rest of these...

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

You're right, and I'm not arguing that there's a world in which they will cut WBB. I'm just saying that it would save the most money.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Summarizing this very long post. Every school is required to report two statements every year. One to the department of education (EADA) and one to the NCAA (NCAA Online Report). You can see all of Minnesota's here: https://gophersports.com/sports/2018/5/21/ot-financial-reports-html The schools...

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Yes, unfortunately I cannot direct link to their reports because of the way the web application works, but you can access them here: https://ope.ed.gov/athletics/#/. Navigate to University of Minnesota - Twin Cities first and you will see what a true report looks like. It will show you revenue...

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

All of these schools doctored their financial statements to not show a loss on women's sports which is why their revenue is absurdly high. Minnesota, to its credit, still reports accurate numbers.

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

It loses so much money. It lost $4M just last year. That’s $267K per scholarship athlete. It’s an awful investment. It costs more per player to field a women’s basketball team than most families make in a year. Cutting women’s basketball would almost completely close the budget deficit. While...

RandBall: Where’s the money? Gophers budget shortfall raises questions

Getting rid of women’s basketball would fix the problem. They lose like $200-300K per player, it’s absolutely ridiculous amounts of graft. If you cut that, and then whatever men’s sports you need to keep things in balance, then I think that fixes the issue. Agree with baseball. I like Gopher...

A rivalry with the Washington Huskies?

Love the post. Might quibble with fan base much like our own. They have a much larger and more invested fan base than the Gophers. They are kinda the best proof point that the whole, “Oh the Gophers are competing with other sports” argument is BS

Big Ten QB Power Rankings: Post-spring tiers for every B1G QB room (Very worrisome: Minnesota (Drake Lindsey))

Just as long as we can all agree right now that even if Athan beats the wheels off him this fall, it doesn’t mean that bringing in competition last year was a bad idea. I’m okay watching a struggling freshman QB this year.
