Stumbled upon this, some good stuff in here. Collins seems like a guy who gets it. https://gophersports.com/news/2025/2/7/football-golden-gopher-podcast-danny-collins

Big Ten Tournament if it were held today; Gophers currently hold a spot

Or @UCLA. They have been on a roll now. Just beat Oregon by 36 points last night and have won five straight. Nothing will be easy, for sure.

Big Ten Tournament if it were held today; Gophers currently hold a spot

True. And, nothing is easy. At Nebraska (even though they are currently in the bottom 6) could be the toughest game we have left.

Big Ten Tournament if it were held today; Gophers currently hold a spot

What are you talking about? The Gophers are 3-7. That is ten games. They play 20 Big Ten games. That is exactly the midway point. Some teams have played 11 conference games. We are technically PAST the midway point my friend. 15 teams have played 10 or 11 games. Three teams have played...

Big Ten Tournament if it were held today; Gophers currently hold a spot

Ok. SOS shouldn't factor into any analysis. Got it. Someone alert the NCAA Selection Committee please. And, it isn't "this early" in the season. We're at the midway point. That's past early.

Big Ten Tournament if it were held today; Gophers currently hold a spot

I'm not "arguing" anything here. I was simply laying out the facts that Minnesota has not played anyone in the bottom six. And, of course, there should be an understanding that in an 18-team league and only halfway through a schedule where basically everyone is playing each other only once...

Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will hold fewer people than expected after renovations

I get that, but the initial loss of seating was already planned. It ended up being an additional 6-8k after plans changed. They can't be surprised they lost 15k seats. They could be mildly surprised they lost 6-8k seats from the original renovation plan. They chose to skip phase three...

Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will hold fewer people than expected after renovations

Lost 15k seats? They were planning on having 50K after renovation. They changed plans and will end up with 42-44k. That is a loss of 6-8k. Not 15k.

Well, yeah. Everyone would rather that happen.

Weakling Wednesday Final Weekend: Iowa @ Nebraska for the Final "Chair and a Chance"

I believe the tiebreaker would go like this for the three teams that are 3-7 (combined record against all teams in the tie): Penn State 1-0 Minnesota 0-0 Northwestern 0-1 Northwestern dips to 16th place based on the tie-breaker.

Big Ten Tournament if it were held today; Gophers currently hold a spot

The good news, based on the tie-breaking procedures, the five biggest games left on the schedule are against the four worst teams in the league: Saturday vs. Washington Feb 4 at Penn State Feb 22 vs. Penn State Feb 25 vs. Northwestern March 1 at Nebraska Win most (or all) of those games, and...

CFP Title Game Draws 22 Million Viewers, Down 12% From Last Year

Also, the game may have dictated a lower viewership. Let's not forget is was 27-7 two minutes into the second half. There was likely a tune-out factor. If the game was 27-27 at that point, the numbers skyrocket. It eventually got closer, but by that time the chance to get a huge number was gone.

Coyle cut a deal with Ben this off-season

There is only one clear person ready for the Nut House on this thread and he ain't realizing it.

If Gophers Get to 5 Conference Wins, Making Big Ten Tournament Not Out of the Question?

Mark Coyle fired Lindsay Whalen, who is a Gopher and Minnesota sports living legend after doing more on the court and recruiting better than Ben Johnson. Mark Coyle fired Tracy Claeys after one of the most impressive bowl wins in program history and a nine-win season. Mark Coyle (in essence)...

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

Yes. This is the sole reason women's rowing exists at the University of Minnesota. They picked the sport that offers the most women scholarships to get as close as they could to equal without having to add 2 or 3 other women's sports. It is also why we have only women's soccer (no men's).

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

I'll bet there are a whole bunch of college football coaches today wondering how they are going to fulfill their $12 million+ commitment to pay players this fall with what will turn out to be maybe less than half that. They have to be scrambling for answers. Revenue share was one of the ways a...

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

If it kills women's sports at universities, it will kill men's sports, too. You cannot have men's sports if you don't have an equal opportunity for women. That's what Title IX is all about. So, if you kill a women's sport, some men's sport that has equivalent number of scholarships will also...
