Students paying students: How the U is trying to stay competitive in athletics

All the money is fungible. Tuition money helps pay for PhD students in Engineering and Science who are paid by the university to attend school. That means students are paying for students to attend. Where are the pitchforks ready to skewer the Chem E PhD nerds?

    Blake Wheeler retires

Knies' chance depends on the line he'll play on in the next 2-3 years in Toronto. He could be like Marner and get a ton of points by being next to the right guts. Otherwise, I agree. Cooley has a much better chance for the reasons you said.

    Blake Wheeler retires

Same. I thought Kessel would go one more season to hit it. Blake needed 1 or 2 more healthy seasons, but maybe he knew hid game started to slip to the point where it wasn't attainable. Either way, great career. The best shots at 1,000 now are Cooley and Knies.

ESPN: Greg Sankey says SEC, Big Ten still differ on best CFP model

Good for the Big Ten. Hold firm. If nothing new happens, the other conferences will continue to get weaker and become irrelevant. The Big Ten will be in an operational position to add more teams next year. Let's keep the status quo for 2 more football seasons, then blow up the ACC. That's when...

CBS is ending ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ next year

Another example of the public sector corrupting the private sector. Trump is the most statist president thus country has ever had. The GOP has become the commie party.

President Donald Trump to sign executive order establishing national NIL standards amid evolving legislation

Nothing burger. Legislation is required. At least Trump killed gambling in this country. We won't have to worry about seeing all the sports gambling ads anymore.

Wow an end of an era on #Gophers campus as Annie’s Parlour closed after more than 50 years! Who has great memories going there while in Dinkytown?

Yep. Eat before or after the game. Annie's was one of the spots. Only get something to drink at the game if it's hot to hydrate.

Reusse: Timberwolves owners’ plan for development around a new arena seems like a very suburban idea

That's a great place. Lots of space, empty buildings, empty parking lots, right off 100 and close to 694.

Does Josh Giddey want to come here and win? He'd have to take less than he's worth, but the Wolves would win big with him.

Reusse: Timberwolves owners’ plan for development around a new arena seems like a very suburban idea

Nope. It has to be in one of the 2 big cities or an inner suburb that has easy access to a freeway or highway. The West End has no room, but a place like that would work due to it's proximity to 100 and 394. It's also centrally located and not an exurb. Are there any locations like that with...

Wolves take Joan Beringer at #17...

Beringer is the prototypical center to develop. He's not close to playing any minutes in the NBA, but if he develops, he can anchor a defense and not get played off of the court in the playoffs due to his athleticism and mobility. It'll take almost his entire rookie contract to develop him...

Updated 2nd Round Mock per The Athletic

If you're looking to get better next season by drafting in the late teens and twenties, then you're screwed because you're not going to get better that way. Almost no team can improve in the short-term via the draft, except for those that are fortunate enough to draft in the top 3. Most...
