Some delicious facts regarding the big win over Wisconsin

Some delicious facts regarding the big win over Wisconsin

Maybe you'll stumble upon a real coach one day, and figure out your identity as a program. Hey, here's a thought: Barry Alvarez is still alive, yes? Ahhhhh, take me back to the good old days... Glory days Well, they'll pass you by, Glory days In the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days...

Scoggins: Max Brosmer’s gift to the Gophers is how he’s allowed coach P.J. Fleck to evolve

I see it a bit differently. To me, Fleck has always run an offense that suits the strengths of his current roster of players. When he had Tanner Morgan, Rashad Bateman, Tyler Johnson and Rodney Smith he ran an offense that suited the personnel. When he had Mo Ibrahim and a bunch of gigantic...

Scoggins: Gophers’ season of toss-up games will largely be defined by Wisconsin outcome

Someone — SON, maybe? — turned me on to the Spare and a Pair podcast. It's a lot a fun, and really good (and fair) coverage of our team. So far, I've found all three of these guys (Chip Scoggins, Justin Gerard, Ryan Burns) to be a great listen.

    INCOMING: An interesting comparison

After last season, Fleck had to deal with: — A losing season — Loss of his defensive coordinator — An immediate need to rebuild the quarterback position. Here's how Fleck responded to these problems: — He went 7-5 and was very competitive in every game. — He hired Corey Hetherman (huge...

Yep, they did it — and they did it emphatically. Dominating win.

Some delicious facts regarding the big win over Wisconsin

    — The Gophers win over the Badgers means that Wisconsin's streak of 22 consecutive seasons with a winning record has ended. That streak was the longest active streak among Power 4 teams. Oklahoma's streak stands at 18 seasons and Alabama at 17. How sweet it is for Gopher fans that our team ended...

Michigan just paid $12 million for their new 5* QB, flips him from LSU

To be fair, the picture we painted in our minds of the good old days of pure amateur athletics and "student athletes" was never all that true to life. Money has always made the world go around, at least to some extent. It has definitely gotten bigger, and more blatant. It's mostly all in the...

All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

My approach is more about how to build a roster, and how the team you build works going forward. Of all the players on the field, wide receivers might be the players who are most dependent on the scheme and the players around them. A great wide receiver needs someone to throw the ball to him...

Iowa is... wow. What the heck are they doing at QB?

Iowa is currently second to last in the B1G in passing yards per game, and they're first in the B1G in rushing yards per game. Firing Brian Ferentz didn't change anything. Apparently, Iowa knows who they are, and believes in what they've always done. At the end of the day, it has been pretty...

Michigan just paid $12 million for their new 5* QB, flips him from LSU

This makes me think about team chemistry and cohesion. I'm assuming they can't pay their entire roster a comparable amount. Then again, coaches could possibly use it for motivation: "If you want a new Lamborghini like our superstar freshman over there, you need to earn it".

Iowa is... wow. What the heck are they doing at QB?

The Giants are a team in free-fall, with a coach who is waiting for a pink slip. Iowa is currently fifth in the B1G standings, behind only the four playoff B1G teams. The Hawkeyes have an excellent chance for a good bowl game and a decent season. And Ferentz's job is secure. I think Kirk is...

You rate WR and RB higher than I do in their level of importance to the team (and therefore the amount of cap space I would designate to the position), so we'll agree to disagree. I'd certainly hesitate before committing to a league-best contract for a WR, even a great WR, when I'm not sure of...
