All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

While on the surface I don't really get the Varland trade, there is something to be said for gaining a lefthanded Starting pitcher (Kendry Rojas) in return, if he is close to making it to the Show. The Twins definitely have that need. If he does not make it as a starter, he could also be a...

All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

Sometimes, one just lucks out into a New Players. For example, a couple of weeks ago I used former Twin, Joe Smith (journeyman reliever, also known for being wed to Allie LaForce). When I entered his name, another Joe Smith pops up who was a Catcher for the Yankees only in the 1912, so he fits...

The Varland trade sounds like it was a straight up baseball decision, they got what they think it a viable starter (Rojas) back in return. Also part of they deal, got OF Roden who they can give a shot to play right now (in addition to wiping France off the books the rest of the year).

Marcus Fuller moving from Gophers beat to high school coverage

It's pretty common for the Strib print edition Sports Page to be literally that, 1 singular piece of paper. Folded equivalent of 4 pages.

Marcus Fuller moving from Gophers beat to high school coverage

Are we sure the Strib will even offer resources to allocate a beat writer dedicated to Gopher basketball? What percentage road games did they just go with wire reports?

After the fact, I realized I could have plugged David Segui in the Guards/Jays as well as Gaurds/Ms boxes for a father-son daily double. As for the Total Player count competition, it's not really a like-for-like comparison. I have been New Player hunting ever since I knew it was tracked, when I...

All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

I'm up to 1,420 having saved Diego Segui, for a M's>Brewers combo, being the only player to appear for both the Seattle Pilots and Mariners. I used his son, David recently this week as well. Sneaky good Grid asset. The other New Player today for me was Ryan Jeffers in the Catcher/1 Team box.

The Twins have not won the American League Pennant since they took the trees out.

Just going from memory, but I think Morneau's complaints were it was distracting when they would sway with a breeze as well as something to do with shadows/glare during day games instead of a traditional "batters eye".

I trust the coaches (and other decision makers) as well. That's precisely why I don't really care about practice reports during the first week of August. Labor Day. That's when "bleep" gets real. Until then. Noise.

I think it was Morneau who specifically along with a bunch of other Twins hitters that wanted pine trees removed.

I think there will be better options than Kirk, either already in Eagan or perhaps not. I don't really stress about it any earlier than Labor Day. Practice. We're talking about practice.

Continuing to tout a fossil QB who led the Jets to fewer wins with him in 2024 than without him in 2023. Sad.

Curt Cignetti on IU’s notably soft non conference slate: “We figured we’d adopt the SEC scheduling model.”

The SEC and Big 10 will probably have merged and/or broken off completely from the NCAA by then.
