I find the loss of Rachel Lowery due to medical reasons also set back the pitching situation quite a bit.

I too have been much more “checked-out” this season than in many, many seasons. These types of seasons are inevitable, and I don’t feel bad for me or for my fellow Gopher fans. I do feel bad however for our starting shortstop, who I think is one of NCAA softball’s rare talents.

Now that was one tough, disappointing weekend. Ouch!!!

The key problem in this day’s horrible box score is that our pitchers were able to get only one strikeout. It is really tough to be good when your team is playing defense over the course of a whole season if you don’t have a pitcher on staff who can get strikeouts. That is our #1 problem this...

It is best for Big Ten teams to just focus on competing for the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships. Big Ten teams shouldn’t even worry about the NCAA tourney. Pretend it doesn’t exist. Big Ten teams need to prepare in the first half of the season and execute in the second half...

As of Friday at 5:45, this Gopher softball team may be figuring it out.

I think that is true; it is true for me. But it shouldn’t be. We do have one of the best players in the nation playing shortstop on this team. Fans should take advantage of that while we have it because, in the “portal” world, who knows for how long?

Oh good. I was worried that the person behind Hrothgar had deceased. I think this change was announced many months ago, I just forgot.

Which Hrothgar and others (me included) have been saying for two years is the priority. Really good teams need that really good pitching.

But Addison Leschber stepped up; which is encouraging.

When looking at last year, it’s so tough to compare because Autumn Pease pitched so many innings; and so many of those innings were the toughest innings against the toughest opponents every weekend.

I don’t think you really know how bad it could get. We have been blessed to have been fans of a team that was at the top rung of the Big Ten for the past 10 years, enough so to go to NCAA tournaments each of those years. Imagine we become more like Penn State has been. That is not impossible.

I don’t know who thought the Gophers had a strong chance of sweeping this weekend. I kinda don’t know how some people don’t live in a constant mental state of disappointment and dissatisfaction given the expectations they have for the Minnesota softball team.

To be fair, Boston U is very good. They took South Carolina to 8 innings last night.
