Score speaks for itself on this one. Felt like 2 1/2 losses, but still just counts as one. On to PK Park, weather permitting...

Gophers get a 10-6 win as both bullpens settle in. Not sure I can remember a game where the teams combined to score 16 runs in the first four innings, and then all zeroes after that. Rooney was solid in relief. It got interesting in 9th with the tying run at the plate with 1 out, but...

On Saturday night, I also noticed after Spanier grounded out to end the game, Purdue players from bench were going out to the infield to celebrate, and as Spanier was just walking back to Gopher's side and just tried to walk through the stream of players, some Purdue player stopped and got into...

    Fire Ben Johnson

There were several 'Why are we underachievers - we stink' questions on that post. Here is what the guy replied with on roster talent evaluation: Measuring roster talent can be a bit complicated, but my calculation uses a combination of the current BPR values for the players on the roster at...

Honorable mention to Elbeery as well, with some clutch hits. Agree on Purdue...they seem like a team that has scheduled soft to start season and rack up wins, but they certainly played well this weekend. Big two-gamer with Kansas. Will be interesting to see what they do on mound. Weather...

    Gopher Softball 2025

Gophers split, with a run in bottom of 9th to win 1-0 over South Alabama (Schwartz with the complete game shutout), and then routed 10-0 in 5 by Louisiana State. Rough day at plate, with 4 hits and 17 strikeouts combined between the two games.

Poll: Should Mark Coyle give Ben Johnson a 5th year?

I voted No, based both on what the four years have been, and a high likelihood we will be in similar position at this time next year.

Seth Davis: Ben Johnson has done an incredible job with this team. One of the elite coaches in one of the toughest jobs in America.

I have seen a CBC bracketology (......pause for laughter and eye rolling......) with the Gophers playing Texas Christian.

Scoggins: Word is Mark Coyle wants to build Gophers men’s basketball. What does it mean for Ben Johnson?

If Coyle wants to get to 5-6 million total, and our current NIL is in the neighborhood of 1 million (at least that is what a recent news article stated) and assuming it's going to be something like that next year, that means the U allocating something along the lines of 19.5% to 24.3% of revenue...

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA SENIOR NIGHT (JOHNSON'S LAST HOME GAME?) IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Bummer. Rigsby and F. Martin were really good and provided spark, but Badgers didn't turn it over much in second half, made their free throws, and their cutting to basket got them several easy baskets.

College Soccer is Looking at Becoming a Pro League

Here is another article on the original topic. I was curious as to why the universities would sink more money into a non-revenue sport, but it seems USSF would be injecting potentially a lot of money to make it work. Anyway, the article suggests this change isn't imminent or particularly close...

    > For some reason there is also a line in the middle of the wall which causes confusion because people think you just need to hit it over that line for a HR but you actually need to hit it over the wall. I think the horizontal line in middle of wall is home run line for lower division games...

I would say it definitely looks like a football stadium that has baseball retrofitted into it, but it's serviceable. The dugouts look like cut out shipping containers with chain link fencing. The 3rd base bullpen mound is fairly close to the left field line. The left field foul pole isn't the...

If Seth Davis had not posted this follow up, I would have thought his account had been hacked from the sheer absurdity of the original post.

That was an entertaining series. All 3 games were close. Three weekends in, this team looks more athletic. Helium, Martin, Knoll, Richter all look like they can run, and McDevitt seems intent on being much more active on the basepaths. This team also is also off to a better start...
