$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

Good Maybe you'll get so upset you'll stop being a fan and stop posting here. The latter would be a nice compromise.

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

"vote w their feet" = change schools, hope all credits transfer, etc isn't quite as simple as you make it out to be.

‘Slap in the Face’ Motivates Gophers New QB Drake Lindsey

I'll give a pass on losing Bucky Irving since we didn't even have a collective yet, but we weren't able to keep Philip Daniels and he probably doesn't require as much NIL as a successful redshirt freshman QB would. A team like ours basically has a cap and if he and Koi get too much of it, who...

‘Slap in the Face’ Motivates Gophers New QB Drake Lindsey

I can't follow this. Wouldn't it be easier to think about being the starter if the team enticing you with NIL has the question mark players? If I were him and was looking to leave and Arkansas needed a QB, I'd consider that better than tOSU, etc where you know there's going to be redshirt...

President Donald Trump to sign executive order establishing national NIL standards amid evolving legislation

Maybe not you, but there have been lots of people wanting federal legislation around this. If you don't, fine.

The Gophers need to get into the statue-erecting business too outside of Huntington Bank Stadium.

I'd put Philip Nelson ahead of Athan. I think he was higher ranked. Plus Athan at least got us that victory in Nebraska after Tanner went out at halftime.

ESPN: Greg Sankey says SEC, Big Ten still differ on best CFP model

I hope viewership continues to drop and they go with something else completely. I have zero interest in a college football post season tournament in January, especially when a far better one is shaping up in the exact same sport.

New NIL Enforcement Targets Collectives, deals must serve ‘valid business purpose’

I'm having trouble grasping what type of law they could even pass that wouldn't be struck down. If they said college artists can only accept certain types of compensation, etc. or college musicians, they'd be laughed at for even bringing it up. But somehow some people think they can control...

New NIL Enforcement Targets Collectives, deals must serve ‘valid business purpose’

Good point. I'm waiting for the time when the Supreme Court rules some 3rd party can't just strike down NIL deals - then the inevitable lawsuits from the athletes who are getting rejected now, claiming that they suffered irreparable financial harm from Deloitte striking them down.

New NIL Enforcement Targets Collectives, deals must serve ‘valid business purpose’

I think you could have phrased it better then; instead of saying women should get it all. Gable Steveson's deal with Blaze credit union seems as legit as any NIL I've seen a female athlete do. I saw him on a billboard on 35W saying he was "on team Blaze". Since credit unions aren't usually...

5 star tackle commits to TTU for 5mil over 3 years

Maybe it could help with scouting too? Instead of getting drafted from a smaller school, now more players will move up, and if they don't hack it at the P4, then they won't get drafted. Previously you had to guess if the guy from some small school was gonna make it. Maybe an example was the...

    BYU QB Reportedly Transferring

Very true (bolded). But they can tell him to seek forgiveness while also asking him to serve his punishment for breaking a rule he agreed to. They don't need to be mutually exclusive. Also the Bible makes no mention of the Pharisees inviting the women into their "team" so to speak, the story...

    BYU QB Reportedly Transferring

Could you explain the bolded more? If you're going for the "don't throw stones" angle, that part of John wasn't in the earliest versions of the New Testament. And even if that was part of the original manuscripts, there's an obvious difference between stoning someone to death and a small...

    BYU QB Reportedly Transferring

But if you're in that group, you really want to make sure the behavior doesn't happen. We have colleges here (Bethel, Northwestern) that have similar rules about women in your dorm room, etc. Opposite end of the spectrum, but it's analogous to like a biker gang or street gang not wanting...

5 star tackle commits to TTU for 5mil over 3 years

The only problem is, there is zero motivation for the NFL to fund that. If they fund a minor league during the fall/winter, they are competing with themselves. If they fund it in the spring, will the players really be able to participate in the fall with no offseason? NFL Europe was their...

New NIL Enforcement Targets Collectives, deals must serve ‘valid business purpose’

I think he saw the commercial on TV where that LSU women's BB athlete is marketing the Experian app, which appears to be legit NIL, and assumed all female athletes were doing it that way because it's unlikely he (@MaxyJR1) is going to hear about female players being paid to play for a specific...

New NIL Enforcement Targets Collectives, deals must serve ‘valid business purpose’

Exactly. When I was in school we spent time learning how to go to the library, find sources, and cite them in some ridiculously strict format. But if we've made machines that can now do that for us and we just need to review to make sure they didn't go to The Onion, for example, then that...

UCF coach Scott Frost on what he learned from Nebraska: "Don't take the wrong job."

I don't think he's implying he didn't win one there, I think he's implying you can't win one anymore at Nebraska.

UCF coach Scott Frost on what he learned from Nebraska: "Don't take the wrong job."

Interesting. I'd almost think the opposite should be true, where if you're in Florida among tons of people and stuff, that's when you should do the stuff you don't want people to see. I hate to strike your last few words, but I think it just sounds better without the "for him" haha.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45697565/all-college-football-ought-cheer-texas-tech Some interesting points: "The best part, at least thus far, is that the Red Raiders aren't alone as an upstart program attracting top-tier talent out of the Class of 2026. Zion Elee, an edge...
