Ben Johnson on scheduling St. Thomas as opponent: "I think we will stay away from that game"

Unless St Thomas gets a Big East invite, I'm not worried at all about losing recruits to them. It's about the fan-base and perception of the program... two big things that Ben is trying to increase. The problem is there seems to be less and less diehard Gopher basketball fans every year. With...

Ben Johnson on scheduling St. Thomas as opponent: "I think we will stay away from that game"

Glad Ben is putting his foot down. Zero reason to schedule this game. Zero. I'd bet most of you on GH that want this local non-conference game aren't even season ticket holders. So why does it make a difference to you if the Gophers continue play a mid-major from the south instead? It's not...

    Is ESPN+ worth it?

ESPN+ does not include the regular ESPN channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPNNews). Common misconception.

Field of 68 Projection: Big Ten Leads Way With 9 Bids, Big East & Big XII With 7 Apiece

Houston might have difficulty making it now. They lost their starting backcourt this past week.

    Andy Katz on the Gophers

Andy Katz and Jon Rothstein are the best out there for college basketball.

    Hoiberg/Nebraska RUMOR

Take the high road man. You and I have been on GH long enough to know that it's a waste of time responding to MplsGopher. He's always going to be the exact same insufferable poster regardless of the topic.

    Hoiberg/Nebraska RUMOR

I hate getting off-topic, but this is a very misleading post. A fake class at NC gave out A's to hundreds of athletes (and maybe a normal student every once in a while). That's absolutely terrible. One bad actor? Are you talking about the so-called professor? That's ridiculous to think that...

A win is a win, but wow Gophers. I guess get that turnover mess of a game out of your system...

***OFFICIAL TEXAS A&M CORPUS CHRISTI AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

What college basketball has shown us this year is if you don't come focused, you could lose. Winless Lafayette beat Rutgers, winless Texas Southern beat Florida... or even the craziest... Academy of Art (D2) beat UC Davis. You see this all the time... unmotivated team comes out flat when...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN IN-GAME THREAD TWAS NIGHT BEFORE XMAS THEME!!!***

Stan's awesome Christmas/Gopher prologue clearly put this team in the position to succeed tonight. So impressed with this group of coaches and players. Yet again, I can't stop smiling about this team.

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA BIG TEN OPENER IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

For the first ten minutes of the second half, it seemed like MSU didn't miss a shot. Love how fired up this team was when getting it back to single digits late in the game. Just no quit.

Payton Willis named Big Ten Player of the week

Agreed. People forget that he was playing pretty well for us until that bad ankle injury. Was never the same the rest of the season.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MISSISSIPPI STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Let's get some love for Curry. Battled the athletic MSU frontcourt all day, and even though he was overwhelmed at times, he played smart and hard all game.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MISSISSIPPI STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Just can't believe we won this game... and without Sutherlin! Battle was unstoppable midway through the second half and Willis calmly hit the shot of the season so far. Can't stop smiling.

I thought the same thing. Seemed like the clock guy gave Brooks another half second at least.

What do we know about Mississippi State?

MSU has a lot of talent. Adding to the responses above, they also have Memphis transfer DJ Jeffries and NC State transfer Shakeel Moore. This team should be dancing this year.

I think it would be pretty cool to see the WCC get 4 teams to the tourney. It could happen this year with the ACC and Pac-12 struggling.

    B1G Dominating the ACC

Huh? So next year when the Gophers have a possible shot at the NCAA tournament, you're still going to cheer for Big Ten teams to lose? Let's say they do lose, and the teams are awful in the non-conference. Because of that, the NCAA gives the Big Ten only 3-4 bids (pretty much what the Pac-12 has...

Rough night for the Big Ten. Nebraska, Penn State, and Maryland had second half leads and all of them lost. Big Ten still hangs on for the 8-6 win over the ACC.
