Contest: Predict the Final Regular Season Record - Time to Put it on the Record

17-9. It's not that we haven't won a road game, but have played so poorly on the road. Win a first round NCAA tourney game, lose in round of 32. That would still be considered a successful season but the ceiling is higher for this team.

Entire NCAA tourney to be played in Indiana

Would be an advantage to Purdue or IU to play an NCAA game there. Doubt it will happen because both of those teams could miss the tourney entirely and I'd think the selection committee would schedule them in Indy.

Postgame Press-Conference after Gophers WIN vs. Kansas City! (12-10-20)

I don't have high expectations. I expect him to get in foul trouble but hope I'm wrong. Iowa is really good and tough to beat if Bohannon is hot. That said, having a 7 footer who can make free throws and 3's is valuable. Carr needs to look for him on the pick and roll more.

    David Mutaf

Pitino also said in the postgame presser that the pandemic was hard for David to stay in shape especially. Sounds like Carr had gym facilities; Mutaf did not.

Coack K Wants to End Season

I had never read that but that is quite amusing. Thanks for sharing.

Shooter: Trevor Mbakwe has opted for an assistant athletics director job at Irondale.

There's so many of these. I played park high school in high school and had no idea it was in cottage grove. Rockford high school is actually in greenfield.

Jeff Goodman: 2020 College Basketball Transfer Portal: Biggest Winners & Losers (Biggest Winner #1. Minnesota)

Wow... Has to be due to covid. Curious if the decisions will also be different than usual. I'd expect Gach to get a waiver but not Robbins normally.

Tim McCormick gives his rankings of Big Ten coaches (Bottom Four: Collins, Pitino, Chambers and Underwood)

Couple of thoughts: 1. This league has a lot of really good coaches. Makes sense, it's the best basketball league in the country. 2. For me, there does (currently) seem to be quite a bit of separation between the top 4-5 and the rest. My tier 1 would be: Izzo, Painter, Turgeon, Gard, Holtmann...

I am shocked this LA times Coffey Article hasn't been posted on here as of yet

I wouldn't call it a quota system but there are certain "soft expectations" for monthly tickets. Not monthly bookings.

Utah transfer Both Gach commits to the Gophers

This is awesome news, amidst a time where gopher bball fans needed some good news. Actually very excited for the season (provided Carr comes back, which I think he will).

All Things Will Tschetter Recruitment Thread

That's right, Lake City! I haven't seen Will play AAU. Just in Rochester vs Lourdes. Agree that he can be a very good 4 year big ten player. And agreed on the ability to find talent now. You can play anywhere and go D-1, even Lakeview Academy in Duluth (Anders Broman). I think higher...

All Things Will Tschetter Recruitment Thread

He's very strong. Definitely a true 4. It's hard to tell how good he is because the Hiawatha Valley conference is mostly AA teams and not exactly high level competition.

Your all-time favorite Gopher basketball player

My childhood hero was Sam Jacobsen. Local kid, highly recruited, still came to MN. Could hit the three and posterize dudes at will. Recently, it's been heartwarming to watch the on/off court growth of Murphy and Oturu. Favorite benchwarmer: Ryan Saunders.

    Big Ten Tournament cancelled

That sucks. I really wanted to see Oturu handle Garza and the gophers beat Iowa today.

Damian Johnson: "I'm so glad we beat Wisconsin...It doesn't matter where the recruits are from it's about fit"

At least for 3A and 4A. Most of those teams play like there is a shot clock anyways.

All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

His body is BIG ready. He is definitely strong and long enough to defend. He doesn't always defend well or even okay, because of lack of effort and/or watching the ball instead of the ball and his man. This year's Hopkins team has had some big breakdown games though. He will not start instead of...

Minnesota varsity basketball game postponed due to 'lack of refs'

Or at least, if you don't know the rules, don't yell at the refs. I can think of some gyms where nobody would be in the stands then.
