Gophers vs Eagles - 247 Starter ratings

Here's the 247 starter ratings for this week. Some notes: 1 - www.ourlads.com is used for the starters. 2 - This is starting 11 only on both sides. If more than 11 are listed, I try to be fair when removing. 3 - 247 is used for the ratings (standard not the composite). If a player did not have...

    Buffs - Coach Prime

If players want to get paid for playing they must also face getting fired when not meeting expectations. The programs will still honor the contracts, but they won't be playing. Welcome to professional sports.

Gophers vs Huskers - 247 Starter ratings

I keep reading about how much better Nebraska's players are. So naturally I decided to investigate. I used https://www.ourlads.com/ for the depth charts and trimmed them down to only 11 offense and 11 defense. Some notes: 1 - I did not include the second/third stringers as I only have so much...

    Gopher 247's Burns from Indy

John McKay - one of my favorites. Example: John McKay on experience: "If you have everyone back from a team that lost 10 games, experience isn't too important."

Predicting college football's most improved teams (3. wisconsin, 9. Nebraska)

Leading a CFB program to winning is a lot harder in the B10 than it is in AAC, B12, or Big East. As a new coach, unless you're coaching tOSU and maybe Michigan, you don't deserve the pre-season optimism. The floor of decent programs is pretty high in the B10, so again, unless you're tOSU, you...

    The promise of Athan Kaliakmanis

Plus it's really nice to throw to Brevyn Spordfeh-spanfan. (9:30)

CBS: 2023 Big Ten win totals, odds, picks (Minnesota: 6-6 Overall)

6-6 is a solid guess. We're replacing quality veterans at QB, RB, and C and we have a change in OC. I'm excited about the new playmakers but there are way too many questions for me to predict over 7 wins.

    DL Bixby Retires from Football

But not hungrier than Kansas DLs. I suppose you get that hungry when you olé 33.8 ppg.

KC Star: Kansas took two D-line transfers from Minnesota. They think Jayhawks are ‘hungrier’

I mean if by "a lot more hungrier" he means "a lot more worse at playing defense", then I agree with him.

Shooter: Considering the free agency transfer portal, Gophers rooters should be concerned about retaining QB Athan Kaliakmanis

I'm not going to pay money to read that so there's probably a bigger context to this sentence. Still, Big Ten starters seldom leave for another program. Now if they're riding the pine some, sure, increased chance of testing free agency. I swear, sometimes Minnesota media treat Gopher football...

    NCAA Signing Cap—Colorado

Heh, that amateurism label is a technicality at this point.

    NCAA Signing Cap—Colorado

I mean, if I was the new hire HC for a crap professional team and I had a lot of sway to bring in quality players to immediately compete for positions and clean house, I'd probably do something similar.

Winston DeLattiboudere — New D-Line Coach?

I'd love it. Granted, I'm biased as he's the source of my signature "We don't suck."

What does "play to win" look like in a game - how is it different than "playing not to lose?"

I suppose a third one would be: 3 - Our coach is not coaching well vs ____ and we need to do something different. All of them are complaints about not winning or not winning by enough points. I imagine that many fans would think that Iowa plays not to win every season.

What does "play to win" look like in a game - how is it different than "playing not to lose?"

Playing not to lose can be a few things I think. (Both still mean you are trying to win =-) 1 - A conservative offense. 2 - A gameplan to keep a game close vs a team that has clearly better athletes.

Irving to the end zone, can’t compete at MN

Oh I don't disagree. I doubt that the coaching staff called him Bucko after knowing it was his late father that gave him the nickname. If so, I agree with roadrunner, that's a "d##khead" move.
