    All Things Ben Johnson Tweets

I assume he's just using it as some light summer conditioning to get the guys in shape. Highly doubt there's a serious emphasis on long-distance running during the season. For all we know they do this once a week and then do sprints and shuttles every day. As long as it's just being used as...

I want us to update our jerseys so bad. Sick of the thin straps over the shoulder - they look like wrestling stringers.

Yeah I realized that a little too late. It's all good though, still stand by what I said.

Usually ignore your takes since they're often troll posts but actually agree with this. Baylor's style of recruiting is something I can get with. Lots of wing players on the team that can guard 1-4 and aggressive backcourts that can shoot the ball and get after it on defense. 8-9 kid rotation...

All Things Joshua Ola-Joseph Recruitment Thread (Class of 2022; Osseo HS; Gophers Offered)

Why not get both? Dunn has his official at the U tomorrow. Dunn and Pierre added to the 3 Minnesota recruits we already have would be a great first class for coach BJ.

There isn't a coach in the country who could've developed Omersa and Konate into giving solid minutes at the B1G level. Pitino isn't a miracle worker. Also did a very good job developing Nate Mason and Jordan Murphy. I had a lot of problems with Pitino's tenure here including recruiting and...

Say it ain't so-Parker Fox out for season

You're right, Zach Lavine never recovered from that ACL injury in 2017. Oh wait, he's averaging 28 pts a game in the NBA this year.

I I 100% agree with you. In order to succeed at Minnesota you have to have coaching chops and be able to recruit the local talent. Time will tell if CBJ is that guy but I look forward to seeing what he does with all the transfers this season.

True I forgot about that. I'd imagine CBJ also pitched bringing McNeilly and Cashius in as well with Miller joining in as a pleasant surprise.

Was Johnson brought in because he's an amazing coach with a wealth of experience or because he's supposed to have great relationships with the Minnesota AAU circuit and to recruit the local talent? Seeing as he's never had a head coaching gig I highly suspect it's the latter. I'm not blaming...

Not much CBJ could've done in only 3 weeks when King already had a pre-existing relationship at ISU. Makes it much more imperative that we hit on either Holloman or Heide (or both). Need to keep some of the in-state guard talent home and start building with local talent ASAP. Clock is ticking...

Here's the issue: Since 2014 there have been 17 MN-born 4-star recruits, Gophers signed 3 of them

This is a good take. I don't understand how someone could argue that we would've gotten a specific recruit with the old facilities when they were recruited with the new facilities.

Despite flurry of activity, Gophers men’s basketball roster still has major questions

Agreed but assuming they end up transferring here I don't think it could be made official until coach McNeilly is officially named as a Minnesota Assistant. Otherwise it would look like he's recruiting his own players while still being on Texas A&Ms payroll. I expect Cashius and Miller to...

Yeah but everyone here is complaining about how we don't get 4 stars, no? And Davison was a 4 star - same as Oturu.

Davison and Oturu were ranked the same coming out of HS. Yikes.

    Parker Fox commit to Minnesota

First, I never said I was worried about not getting players from the portal. I simply stated that we still NEED a dedicated point guard and a big man. Second, there aren't 1200 players in the portal that are good enough to start in the B1G. So I could see why someone would have concerns about us...

PAYTON WILLIS COMMITS TO MINNESOTA, RETURNS BACK

Agreed. We need glue guys like Willis who can give us solid minutes. If we hit on the two Texas A&M transfers and get a serviceable center the roster will be definitely be competitive. Exciting stuff.
