When I was leaving the Outback Bowl game I was totally surrounded by maroon and gold clad fans. It was leaving a Gopher game in MSP. Way more than 10,000 fans.
We not only lose our OL but key players on defense particularly at DT and LB. I am not as optimistic as some over '22. Perhaps PJ can find some of the pieces in the portal again.
The post originally was about PJ's 7 year @ $5,000,000/year extension. I can't blame him for accepting this offer. I blame our buffon AD, Coyle, who made this offer before the season was over. including crucial games vs Iowa and Wisconsin. He committed a similar blunder with Pitino. He is...
If we can't beat Bowling Green and a so-so Illinois team , plus arch rival Iowa, with a very large, experienced OL this year, I I fear for our results next year.
Coyle's granting the five year extension of PJ's contract was insane. You don't do this midseason before the two biggest rivalry games of the year...Iowa and Wisconsin. What was Coyle thinking??
Fleck is a decent guy with good values. He is not an elite coach otherwise he would have hired elite coordinators...BTW, I totally agree that Coyle needs to go. He is an arrogant, incompetent jerk, and that's being kind to him.
Not elite for Winfield. What happened to sportsmanship?? Oh, I forgot, that concept is out of fashion. Not a good example for young fans. The fine was justified and appropriate.
I have had several relatives graduate from Southlake Carroll HS. Its a first rate program with many state championships in several sports. Southlake is an affluent community and the school has premiere athletic facilities and great coaching.
Would love to see the Gophers in the Rose Bowl, but would do almost anything to avoid the corrupt, inefficient. crime ridden LA area....a real bona fide cesspool. Too bad its located in California.
Excellent summary. I agree optimism is warranted on D. I just hope we can get more depth on the OL next year. Losing several top instate OL recruits leaves a sour taste with me.
