In a state with REDICULOUSLY high taxes, Id rather just deal with the situation we have of not broadcasting the quarter and simi final rounds over the air than have more taxes added to the states tax payers. Government over reach is an issue and this is just another situation that would fall...

LOL I'm not into the government MAKING people do things, but it would fit right in with some of the other stuff MN has done

That article defiantly doesn't explain what's really going on INHO. Its like picking up a book and trying to figure out what happened halfway through. I do know WV has a power point system where a loss to a school 1 class above is worth more or the same as win in the same class as you are. I...

Again, I don't understand how football viewership would be less than girls basketball or hockey... If they are making money there, or taking the loss than I don't see how football couldn't be broadcast. 45 has on at 7pm Friday an episode of FRIENDS, a show that went off the air 20 years ago...

Very surprised the football tournament isn't broadcast like basketball and hockey tournaments are. Football rules the country as far as TV ratings go and its not close. Granted the Quarterfinals are all over the pace, but the semis are all at the bank making logistics easy to broadcast on 45

Some guys love turning programs around. That's more of an accomplishment to many than taking a perennial power and continuing to win. Many coaches around the country are know as program flippers.

Who Who knows how each team will handle it. I assume Mahnomen has a pretty good system in place as they have been there several times. I'm sure the MSHSL has things in place for teams also if they need to stay the night before, again I am not sure of that though. Teams must stay for basketball...

Staples best WR is a very good kicker and they also have 1 more kid that can kick extra points as well. Was strange to see them not try kick an extra point.

Qbs have worn different style pads for a long time. But all the shoulder pads now are minuscule in size compared to just a few year back. Go look at highlights of Randy Moss, his shoulder pads would be the largest worn in an NFL game today. They are still protective with the materials they are...

I think you are missing my point. I was just stating that some teams have an aura that opposing teams cant fight through. I am originally form the central part of the state and I watched several OTC teams show up and dominate bigger, faster, and more athletic teams because the opposition...

Barnseville currently and Caledonia, OTC years ago had teams beat before they got off the bus, That's where Minneota is also currently there. I don't want to try take anything away from those programs, I just think that kids enter those games not feeling they can come out with a win 99% of the time

Very well could be. Minneota is in that class of teams that win games when other schools look at the schedule... Kids look at games as an automatic loss. Bold is one of the only teams that looks at Minneota and is not scared to lace them up. If someone goes and plays a great game and gets a...

Again I think most teams, schools, coaches, family members don't care as much about the travel as they do the dates. 4 hour drives on Thursdays aren't the chore they are on Fridays. Some of it could have been solved by not setting dates at sites months in advance but telling host schools that...

I think of it from the host schools perspective also. Think if we have a week of wet weather leading up to a state tournament game your school is hosting. Now your playing surface has been basically ruined going into freeze up because of a game being played in the mud.

Ill fully admit I was unaware of any games being played on Saturdays. I have coached in a game Thursday and boarded a bus at 8AM to play a game at 6PM a few years back. I will also be coaching in this years state tournament and if we win I will Definitly not be attending another game until I...

Yes it is. Totally get that we need to accommodate for that reason. I also have my suspicions about how much truth there is to it because of how few games and the different number of Thursday games each week Week 1 is strange with teams opting to play Thursday so its about a 50/50 split Week 2...
