Yup, I get that. To me though 1 ncaa tournament in 8 seasons is not good. Especially when you have smith and dutcher having multiple appearances. Seems close to equal as pitino's ncaa appearances. But when/if he makes it this year my opinion of him will probably only change if he makes a little...
Bad choice of words on my end. I just don't see him coming here with what he has at Arkansas. Pure speculation. He gets paid $2.5 million a year with heavy incentives. He will most likely get a raise after this year also. Don't see the U shoveling over $3 million for him.
Dutcher and Smith are turning into my favorites for the next head coach. Upon further review of Medved I took him off any list I had because in all his 7 previous seasons as a head coach he has yet to even make a ncaa tournament.
This is with the knowledge that musselman is not coming here no...
Good fight today.I am really hoping Mashburn, Williams, robbins, gach, and mitchell all come back.
I have a sneaky suspicion that mitchell will eventually be a solid player for some reason.
I bet it's probably 50% of all college basketball coaches had previous ties with their respective area they are coaching. So I would say it is not just us. Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan st., northwestern, and Purdue is to name a few in the big 10.
Hate to say it but w/out robbins I think they will get destroyed. Even with robbins they lose because if he played i think he will be rusty or even still a little hurt.
I don't think you meant it this way but you really flipped what I was saying. I would absolutely hire a person with not much HC experience if they completely nailed it on the interview process. It is a dream come true when you can get that up and comer on your side and they succeed. I am just...
I agree with your point. I would think, without doing any research, the percentage is leaning on more a person turning out like pitino than mark few when you make these type of hires. I think for me it is the comfort I know I am going to get trying to get a guy that is more seasoned. But if you...
My only concern with Gates is his HC experience. Has had only 2 years. He has had only 1 good season as HC. It SEEMS like hiring pitino all over again. I stress the word seems because I know not the same styles but they both did not have the experience.
I am just hoping mashburn and mitchell stay.
I know mitchell hasn't had much playing time but for some reason I think he will be a solid player by the time he is a junior.
I am saying this thinking robbins will stay.
