    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Well said. He's 44 years old and $10 million fine and I doubt is reading this board. If he is reading this board, he's laughing at us amateurs while checks of a size none of us will ever see come in. Actually, he should just be thankful for all the interest in the program, even if it's...

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

The ACC is in huge trouble because of their lower football revenue and they know it. It impacts both football and basketball. Isn't all the money the SEC has generated in football what has elevated them in basketball?

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

Is the B1G handling this very differently than the SEC? Less transfers. Easy to identify three out of the four, but not so much the SEC schools. The B1G is more likely to shift to the SEC model in the future to better compete, right? Sad, but likely.

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

We are very lucky the B1G was aggressive during conference realignment! ACC basketball is dead compared to what it was and may never recover. This article gave an interesting perspective: https://www.si.com/college/ucla/men-s-basketball/bruins-big-ten-acc-ncaa-tournament

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

I agree and that is very similar to football. Harder for the bluebloods to horde the best talent in both leagues now which is good. Not so good for mid majors is their best players are transferring up a level and making the average major conference team better. That is similar to FCS and...

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

I predicted this would happen before the tournament, but was hoping I'd be wrong.:(

All Things 2025 NCAA Tournament Games Thread

I agree to your "Hell no" response to golf's recommendation of "Play the games at the highest seed." How about play games at the lowest seed with 14 seed or lower! They're going to need all the help they can get with NIL & the portal gutting their rosters of their best players. Why not help...

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

14 out of 16 SEC teams make it and 16 of the 32 teams to make it out of the first round are from the B1G and SEC, eight each? It's also not surprising there were fewer upsets since good players are now just transferring from the lower leagues to get a bag of money from the P2. They should...

Hunter Dickinson’s pathetic March Madness exit had college basketball fans celebrating his demise

Maybe he was distracted? Not so great timing by Great Clips! https://athlonsports.com/college-basketball/kansas-hunter-dickinson-makes-nil-announcement-amid-ncaa-tournament

    New Coach Short List

I'm sorry, this exchange just has me laughing inside which is why I visit these boards on occasion. I'm actually impressed with how civil most of you have been. Congrats! Everyone has an opinion on something like DEI. Poor, golfing18now had no idea what he was starting, but was smart enough...

    Kickers are Athletes

He can be our Travis Hunter! Kicker, kick blocker, goal line line jumper, end of half/game jump baller, and why not try him at left tackle?

    Dammit, Martes Lewis is transferring!

I was going to guess he goes down to the G5 level for more playing time. Maybe Northwestern is similar now? They seem to be one of the few B1G teams the portal & NIL hasn't really helped. Makes a lot of sense he is moving closer to home and getting a masters degree from a world class...

CBS: If Big Ten, SEC programs want to keep fans engaged, they should move to 10-game conference schedules

I disagree completely. Go to eight games like the SEC. Schedule two non-conf P4 games to keep things fun and interesting and help with the accuracy of national rankings. I really enjoyed the two game series with UNC. Am I alone? I used that game all year as one data point as to how good the...

ESPN: NCAA to consider coaches' proposal to combat fake injuries

Like you mention, a head coach can always burn a timeout if an important player just needs a minute. It just makes the use of timeouts even more strategic. Maybe they won't have so many to burn at the end of the game freezing the kicker! Sort of ironic, some players fake injuries to save the...

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

I don't see that as a bad thing. Make men's football and basketball players employees and include a requirement that they take classes and be in good standing academically. I'm also required to take continuing ed and be in good standing to stay in my profession. I think that can be figured...

    Wisconsin Badgers are idiots

Miami or Oregon would get an injury and just buy someone off another team to fill the hole in the middle of the week. I don't think this every happens because it's too crazy, but it's the worst case scenario which is why there do have to be at least SOME transfer rules.

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

Wouldn't the NAACP be against Title IX in this situation? Black men make up about 50% of D-1 football players and close to 60% of basketball players while only being about 14% of the US population. They are finally on the verge of being paid at least something remotely close to what they are...

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

I agree. Even more nonsensical. Everything has its limits. I'm thinking we've finally reached it. As Big Dawg just said, football (and men's basketball) will be carved off somehow. Let's assume the federal law around Title IX is finally addressed. What is the outcome that you would...

Dep't of Education says Revenue-sharing should be subject to Title IX

I'm fine with everything becoming a "club" sport except for the ones that can sustain themselves financially and my guess is it goes more that way. I agree with the post from Crosby that people are not going to be as likely to give if their money is spread out to things they are not interested...
