How in the heck could McKinney not have been a class-of-2024 top-100 player? I know she was injured as a junior, but did she improve that much as a high school senior? In this day and age, I'm really already worried about being able to keep her here for four years.

Absolutely! She's very impressive. Who else recruited her? Edit: Ah, now I see. Her final three were the Gophers, Northwestern, and Kentucky. I think she was a very, very underrated player coming out of high school.

Biggest discrepancies between AVCA rankings and RPI seem to be Purdue at 9 and 24, and Minnesota at 14 and 27.

Yeah, it probably was Samedy. In 2021, in a match Wisconsin won at 12 in the 5th, Samedy went 31-7-77 .312.

Interesting that the NCAA's rpi has the Gophers strength of schedule ranking 41st, while Massey has it ranking 9th for the matches played so far, and 6th for the entire season's matches.

Does the fact that Minnesota made the top 16 when their rpi was 27 mean that the NCAA looks more at other rankings, such as Pablo or Massey? The Massey rankings, for example, do seem to be much closer to the coaches' rankings than the NCAA's rpi rankings.

With the new WBIT (32 teams) and the WNIT (48 teams), 148 teams will be playing in the post-season. At 15-14, the Gophers cannot finish below .500, which presumably would make them eligible. If invited -- and given the injuries and the finish, that might not be likely -- should they accept?

It seems that every two years lately, the StarTribune has an article about the worst losses in Gopher women's basketball history: March 2020, January 2022, and probably now again in March 2024. Ouch!
