I understand your feeling. I have no illusions myself. It's just that the Admin. did nothing that I saw to keep the program going in the positive direction it was heading.

True, lots of changes in athletes, but the most important and damaging "out-transfer" of all was the young, charismatic, and highly successful HC. The admin. let Allister go without a concerted effort to keep her (which might have been impossible but....you never know) or even show the public...

Personally, I think the program's downward slide began as early as 2020 when the program started relying on transfers-in rather than finding productive recruits.

If Oakland didn't have those thoughts herself, plenty of wise voices surely were speaking to her. I don't see much spirit in Chavez and Krapf either.

A top-10/top-20 program like the Gophers had isn't brought down this fast by accident. I feel the cause must be found in the Administration and what it wants, will actively pursue, and will pay for.

As lots of us frequently lament, Gophers haven't had a top first-year pitcher come direct from high school since Fiser went 13-1 and when was that? 2016?

After Hosick's fine pitching on Fr and Sat., it seemed ill-advised to expect her to go another four innings today. The team gave their starter a 4-1 lead, but it disappeared only half an inning later. We can still hope for some sense of order to emerge in a shaky pitching staff.

Someone finally got a hit with a crucial runner on base! Watching stats, i got the feeling Hosick (sp?) got stronger the longer she pitched. What the gophers need!!! The more the better.

Gophers still had an outside chance in the 7th inning of game 2. With Burnett on 2nd, a base hit by Hooper, and Krapf & Chavez due up, but really bad base running killed the inning. Surely the coaches know more about the game than that.

To me, the key word is disarray. Gophers teams seem to beat pretty good teams mostly, but lose to very good ones consistently. And that applies to nearly all Gopher sports programs that I watch these days. If the Gophers varsity programs want to compete at an elite level, I guess they must find...

I agree in general. For me the thrill left as they failed to continue bringing in elite D1 pitching. I'll still go to games, but elite pitching is the name of the game. Gophers won't excel without it.

FWIW I thought Brandner was the best all-round player (offense & defense) MN ever had until Oakland came along. So unexpected elite newcomers aren't unknown; they do exist. But a pickup in the circle like, say, Pease is highly unlikely. Some great and unexpected excellence by the present roster...

Does anyone have an idea how the program deals with losing the best player in the conference? Is there a SS waiting in the wings? Or any one who can hit 20 HRs?
