Another recruiting tool for coach Fleck? The city of Minneapolis?

Or just lock it. Once politics comes up, lock the shit.

All Things Class of 2026 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread (Offers, Videos, Tweets, Rankings and More)

Nowadays these beat writers have new metrics to care about. Maybe nobody has read his stuff for a while and he needed to generate a headline, etc. The internet made it so that there are way more "sports writers/reporters" than there used to be, and message boards, at the same time, kinda...

Amateur College Football Officially Dead: Judge OK's $2.8B settlement, paving way for colleges to pay athletes

That's different from NIL, and NIL is what you were asking about in post #13 in regards to "artificial limits". No college athletes have tried to collectively bargain a cap for NIL.

2025 Big Ten win totals: Projecting the finish for every B1G team (MN: 6.5 wins; Pick: Over 6.5 wins)

Yeah, I'm fine rolling with a QB from a football state that played a ton in high school. If it was some MN high school QB who did a lot of handoffs and such, I'd be way more worried.

Amateur College Football Officially Dead: Judge OK's $2.8B settlement, paving way for colleges to pay athletes

Hopefully so. The less sports we have, the more money we can concentrate on football players. Pick whatever women's sports cost the less (included is coaching salaries, the women's crew coach has to make less than the bball coach, so cancel women's bball and leave crew). The last thing we'd...

Amateur College Football Officially Dead: Judge OK's $2.8B settlement, paving way for colleges to pay athletes

I think he means without player approval. It's not "artificial" in the NFL because the players collectively bargained for it and agreed to it. Agreed to by the players. I'm not aware of any attempt by college athletes to get together and propose a limit on their NIL compensation. Seems...

Amateur College Football Officially Dead: Judge OK's $2.8B settlement, paving way for colleges to pay athletes

Really? She's worth $28M to Nike as a WNBA player, but you would have a problem with her getting $28M as an NCAA player? She's still the same person, playing the same game. Is she $28 million dollars more popular in Indiana than Iowa? Me personally, I don't think she's worth $28M either way...

2025 Big Ten win totals: Projecting the finish for every B1G team (MN: 6.5 wins; Pick: Over 6.5 wins)

Well...the other way to look at it is that if we had Brosmer back, the line would be either 8 or 8.5 and that's basically a coin flip. Whereas, unless Lindsey bombs, we should win 7 and make money on the bet.

    YIKES! We've Accepted Mediocrity!

Yeah, I don't see this turning towards Gopher football anytime soon....

Another recruiting tool for coach Fleck? The city of Minneapolis?

Thanks. The comment makes a lot more sense now, and I can totally agree. I've actually met a former player from Louisiana that made his home here for a long time.

Another recruiting tool for coach Fleck? The city of Minneapolis?

I was born in Mpls and live here now, have for almost all my life. I'm not too keen on the bikepaths taking up road space for cars, but it seems like lots of people wanna bike on them and such so I can live with them. I'd hate to think what dining would be like if I didn't have a million...

SEC Network host says Big Ten football is running a ‘Ponzi scheme’

Really though, only grad students should care. No one in the real world, when looking to hire someone with a 4 year degree, is going to give a rat's whatever on if they took classes from a Nobel prize winning prof or an adjunct professor with just a few years experience.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Yeah, but I was responding to this comment of yours: I said if they buy they roster and end up with a top seed, it's no longer an upset. Now you're talking about something different, which is mid majors buying their way along. It's been a nice chat, but I don't see the point in continuing...

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Would it really be an upset then? People watching March Madness would tune in to see the UW Green Bay team upset some #3 or #4 seed, but if they (UW GB) had a booster buy them a bunch of talent they'd enter as a top seed and their victories wouldn't be the "little guy" upsets you initially...

This feels like we're just rehashing. I made the suggestion to separate, etc. and we just looped back to the beginning.

The Athletic: Inside Iowa’s multimillion-dollar moves to end the jokes and start a new era on offense

It's going to take a lot more than an FCS QB and a new OC to make THAT big of a leap. Correct the flaw? Sure. Strength? Nope.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

No, but I can see why you'd think that. I was talking from a broadcast perspective. They will care about the ratings. I'm passionate because I don't wanna see the top teams waste their time beating down weaklings while risking injury and watering down the whole process. If paying the players...

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Agree, give them their own playoffs like was done for FCS. Is any sober person saying that? "Entertainment" is the point of it all, isn't it? The networks didn't shell out all this money because deep down they are college football purists. Pro sports can do a playoff like you suggest where...
