Done Deal! - MINNESOTA HIRES NIKO MEDVED!!

No idea if this will work out long term, but hard to ignore the success he has had the last four years. You win at the level you coach at. He's done that in the MWC. Now will it translate? Watching his team play and listening to what he has had to say.....one work comes to mind and that's...

Frank Mitchell Enters Portal (UPDATE: Big Frank to St. Bonaventure)

It might be easier to just start reporting WHO IS NOT entering the portal from now. on. College basketball has gotten ridiculous.

Marcus article: Gophers are hiring while Big Ten men’s basketball has zero Black head coaches again

Yes these stories do get tiresome and seem to occur with much more regularity at the time this university is thinking about and/or actively replacing a coach. As you said, it is a very tricky subject (almost taboo) but it's a worthy discussion. Whenever this topic comes up it is invariably...

Not trying to disparage either player, but so far the portal hasn't hit us too hard in terms of our assumed production coming back.

    Richard Pitino on KFAN

He's a very interesting coach to listen to. Great insight. Night and day compared to the last guy. He never comes across as phony to me which is what I've always liked about him (maybe I'm wrong). Wish it had worked out better.

Final Field of 68 Projection: Biggest Questions? Does SEC get 14 & does Mountain West get at least 4?

Yeah I don't really gamble either. But it does seem like the SEC is stacked at the top. Was interesting to see how "chalky" the conference tournaments were last week.

Did see something about Rigsby potential having more eligibility. Can't remember where. Anybody else see that or was that a bad source?

I think that is a good point. If others are sniffing around him as a candidate, that is certainly more intriguing. I wasn't a big fan of his as a candidate four years ago, but three tournaments in four years out of the MWC is nothing to sneeze at now.

I would have two questions if Medved ends up as the hire. 1) Would his record be good enough if he didn't have those neat "Minnesota connections"? Three out of the last four years in the MWC (if he makes it this year) is petty good. Certainly he has a far superior resume than Ben Johnson...

I'm a big fan of Hummel's work also. He's very informative. I've often wondered if at some point he would get into coaching.

At 1:19am, 3.13.25. - The Ben Johnson Era has ended and Ben is fired

You are right. He's not going to answer anything or tip his hand. I agree with you. But one of Mark Coyle's weaknesses is he's a PR nightmare. Putting artificial timelines (maybe I read too much into it) only adds to the perception he's not very accessible, almost aloof. But this won't...
