All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Nothing wrong with anything you said here. I still disagree. I like having each division winner get you something. Otherwise, there's no point in having divisions at all (other than as scheduling pods).

Western Conference Finals Minnesota Timberwolves vs Oklahoma City Thunder

OKC beat Denver by 43(!) in the 2nd game, and that series went to 7. We lost the first game to Warriors by 11 (yeah, admittedly that's not the same as 26) and people were gulping, then we came back hard in the 2nd game. I'm hopeful, but obviously the response in game 2 is massive. Let's see

Bold: guessing you've seen it already, but for some reason if you haven't Extraordinary Attorney Woo is quirky and very entertaining.

Western Conference Finals Minnesota Timberwolves vs Oklahoma City Thunder

I was hoping to come on here and read some good news, but seems the overall sentiment so far is something like less than 50/50 optimistic. Losing in the Conf Finals two years in a row, with a still active "streak" for the state/market, would be a very bitter one to swallow.

    All Things TV Series Recommendations/Reviews

Not sure if any HBO folks stuck around to watch The Pitt. To me, really good TV has three ingredients: very well done (production, acting, writing, etc.), entertaining, and an escape from everyday reality. This show has the first in spades. Very well done, and they deserve awards. But man...

Big Ten QB Power Rankings: Post-spring tiers for every B1G QB room (Very worrisome: Minnesota (Drake Lindsey))

So are they saying that if we were some major program, we would've brought in a stud transfer QB through the portal, and since we did not do that, therefore we are [bad X,Y,Z]?

Revisions to roster limits in House vs. NCAA settlement propose ‘grandfathering’ in response to judge’s ultimatum

Yes, exactly. So here's the thing: in the old way, there were no roster limits. Gopher volleyball could have 70 players, if it wanted. Gopher women's soccer could have 100 players. Gopher rowing could have 200. Etc. I'm simply saying, there was no limit as a rule. In other words, you could...

    Indiana optimistic

Is that rule still true? I feel like the NCAA is gutting its rule book these days That said, I don't think anyone thinks they'll have any trouble beating at least one of the FCS teams and then five more FBS games. So it's a bit of a moot point as once you're eligible you're in. It's not like...

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

I think McCarthy is perfectly healthy and he's been making all the throws and saying all the right things on the practice field and in meeting room. Hence why the Vikings turned AR down. But ... we have absolutely no idea how McCarthy will respond in actual games. No one does. You can't really...

    Trump wants to change/limit NIL.

You talking about NIL deals that are essentially the (let's say "moral") equivalent of "no show jobs"? If that's what you're saying, then I agree 100% they have to go. I don't care if it puts bagmen back in business and drives bag money back under the table. That's where it belongs, I guess...

Gotta be Rodgers or Cousins to Saints now? If Rodgers didn't want Pittsburgh, why would he want the Saints?

    Trump wants to change/limit NIL.

They essentially already did exactly that with the House Settlement. NIL deals (from the school) to all athletes in total will be capped at I believe $20.5M per year. I was saying they could collectively bargain to bring that number up.

    Trump wants to change/limit NIL.

Well, simply as a means to force it along much more quickly than waiting around for Congress to do something ...

    Trump wants to change/limit NIL.

Would you be OK with the Exec Order if it said something as simple as "Student-athletes at NCAA member institutions have the right to collectively bargain with the NCAA for revenue sharing and similar benefits, without being required to be employees of the schools" and left it at that? Then the...

St Thomas Basketball Censorship on the Golden Gopher Basketball Forum Poll

So now there's a UST board. And Twolves board. But no Vikings board? That's just absurd. It can't be a thing of having to pay more money to have more boards and/or more moderators. Otherwise, there's no way they would've actually paid more money to have a UST board. Come on. Vikings board

    Trump wants to change/limit NIL.

Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps? I think they make the product vastly superior to pro leagues that don't have them.
  18. G

    Trump wants to change/limit NIL.

I think a big aspect of the House settlement that isn't getting as much attention is that all NIL deals (third party or anything) will have to pass through and be approved by a clearinghouse organization, going forward. Meaning (this is me as a non-legal person making a guess) that the athlete...

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

I'm wild guessing mind you, but I think the reason the Rodgers to Vikings drama played out so long, is that they were having serious discussion behind closed doors. I believe Rodgers has come out and said that he pitched a $10M salary and being a mentor to McCarthy to the Vikings. But I think...
