Ultimate Proof Ben is unfit to rule

A big part of coaching now is to get out and sell the program. It's all about the financials, If he doesn't want to do that go coach high school. It's pretty obvious he is not well suited for the job in its current form.

Asuma when Ben will finally start Isaac

He was always the best option at PG, he made mistakes defensively but he's a bit better now. No reason he's not starting and getting major minutes.

    Betts=Bust

You are making the assumption that Johnson is able to evaluate what talent he has and play them accordingly. Betts hasn't played, not sure we have any idea. Asuma is an example until about now.

***OFFICIAL OHIO STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Why would you randomly play a guy about a minute a game and then put them into the game in a critical situation and expect them to perform to any level. A few may prosper, most won't. Not a prescription for people development in anything.

***OFFICIAL PURDUE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

That is telling, he brought in Cooper also with about the same results. Guy handling the ball is so important. You can forget it with Patterson in that position. They aren't going to win anymore games.

    ESPN bowl monopoly

Based on the non targeting call in Atlanta and the fact that they didn't show the replay kind of points to ESPN almost dictating who they want in the Semi's. I'm done watching it's a farce.

***MORGAN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Johnson playing him out of position to get him on the court maybe, not going to take Mike Mitchell's minutes, whatever it is it's not working, if he go's 1/11 against a B1G opponent they lose.

***MORGAN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

It's got to be defense and rebounding. The guy can score, might not be physical enough for Johnson, would love to see what he can add as another scorer on the floor.

    Wisconsin Badgers are idiots

Sounds like they are going to push the contract side of things. If Wisconsin try's to enforce that type of thing they are going to scare lots of recruits away. I had an agreement with my first corporate job based on training, wanted out as soon as the contract was up

Al Nolen's comments on the FDU broadcast

It's been a fact of college athletics for the last 60 years. Coaching in and of itself is not enough to be successful. Go back to the 60's. No one could doubt the pedigree and the ability to coach at the time but more was needed and the Gophers needed to move on. A mix of recruiting and coaching...

Five Guys On A Shortlist: If the U Decides Change Is Needed, Aim High & Don't Be Cheap With That Big Ten Cash

Players get 20% in the revenue sharing proposal. Seems to me if you fill the Barn at say an average of $60.00 bucks a ticket over the course of the season that is a bit of change that would be going to the players, add the TV revenue, NIL funding, etc. that is that much more. Not going to be...

Al Nolen's comments on the FDU broadcast

I think the comment by Nolen comes out because of frustration. If Minnesota could have found a way to pay Payne they would have and he would still be a Gopher. Fox decided to come back after everyone went in the portal

***OFFICIAL FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I didn't see the game but the few times I've seen Patterson play he reminded me of Cooper, by nature of the way he played the offense always grinded to a halt.

A question Coyle/the new coach must answer

If revenue sharing becomes a reality a middling lower tier Big Ten school like Minnesota is going to have more money and resources than the same type of program in the ACC like NC State. The Big Ten contracts are just bigger than any other conference and will have more to pay players with. Sure...

A qualifying list of potential replacements

Jobs in places like the B1G are way more than coaching. Not sure it is even 50% of what's needed to succeed. The current staff in today's environment just does not have what you need to be successful. I still think from a strictly basketball perspective Johnson is better than Pitino and probably...

A qualifying list of potential replacements

I look at Payne, he was the best player on the court in the A&M Purdue game. It sure wasn't Buzz that did the developing but Johnson. Has to be doing something right.

A qualifying list of potential replacements

All of the support goes to mbb at Dayton though. Minnesota mbb gets a smallish percentage of Nil money.

A qualifying list of potential replacements

If revenue sharing becomes a reality the Minnesota job might not be as bad as people think. With the Big Ten TV contracts there is a decent pot of money out there. If this happens though they will really need start attracting crowds at basketball games. The extra revenue will become critical.

    Fire Ben Johnson

I look at Payne, he's averaging 16+ minutes a game and around 6.7 ppg. Hawkins is averaging around 24 minutes a game but similar points to Payne. Ola-Joseph similar points and minutes to Payne. All for a little more money. The landscape has changed, Johnson may have succeeded had this not...
